    Small underdeveloped caps

Two wbs casings one coir other verm. The coir one is a few days ahead of the verm one and the mushrooms have thick stems but underdeveloped caps. The caps are about the size of a dime. I was wondering what could cause this? I was having hummidity problems when the casings were starting to pin. I am not sure what else could have caused this. Thanks.

It was getting 4 cycles of air an hr. For the last two to three days or 4-5 days after pins it has been geting 2 cycles of air. I cut my air down so that I could keep the rH in the tanks. This is because the mushrooms were forming white dots on the top of the mushrooms that is a sign of low rH. TMC says that my problem is to much C02 but that really is not the case here, since this setup has worked fine before.

Golden Teacher. Yes they started to form white dots on the top of the mushroom caps, I incressed the rH and some of the dots go away. Also the stems do not look correct. They are not the normal smooth, but they look more rough. Also I noticed that on the verm casing one of the caps looks like it opened. The strange part about the cap opening is that it is only about an inch tall. (all shrooms are about 1-2.5 inchs on the verm) and on the coil ( they are about 4inchs) I have not read anything about this before, so I do not understand what is going on. Any bit of understanding would be helpfull.

Do you have a hygrometer to test your rH with? It could be a humidity issue, but the white spots on the caps are not indicative of a low rH. They are the remnants of the veil. Your rH during fruiting and up to harvesting should be around 90%, + or - a percent or two, if you are using a casing layer. For caps to develop properly there must be some evaporation.

Sounds to me like they just need a bit more moisture. Try dunking after this flush.
