![]() | Grow bag Q
Hello all My dog got quite nice results with prestelizied bags since making all from spores didnt work for him bcz he is still a noob, he allways had problems with grain transfer (rye) which seemed to infect everything, anyway these bags he bought are really cheap and there is a little difference in costs of doing bags of his own so i think he will stay here for a while to master this first. Qz: Should my he put the (mycelium) block out of the bag to fruiting chamber for better results or fruit it inside the bag? Shotgun fc would be used. And how should he keep srynges, some say fridge kills spores, some say its ok untill the temperature isnt over 40 degress c?

You should be keeping your spores in the fridge, or a nice cool, dark place. Cold will not kill the spores unless they freeze, it's heat you have to worry about. As for your mycobag, you CAN fruit it directly in the bag (invitro) but you will get a very small crop. It will be enough for you and a friend or maybe a couple of friends to have some fun, but straight grain doesn't fruit well because it can't hold very much water. Mushrooms are 90% water so this is a problem. If you still want to try fruiting inside of the bag, you will need to give it more air exchange once you move it into the fruiting chamber and initiate fruiting conditions. I would say either roll down the top of the bag or cut it off and then fan the chamber out as normal.

first off what strain are you trying to establish. If it is a cubensi then you should look at (rez-effect teks) this will give the mycelium the water it needs. After looking at the rez effect tek determine weather or not you have enough mycelium to do a (monotub), if not do your rez effect in trays then allow to fully colonize and introduce fruiting conditions. Either way rez-effect kicks ass and it works well. So check it out, hit me up if you have any questions. I am a noob to and I realize advice and knowlageable people make the difference. I hope everything goes well peace and best wishes.

@TastyBeverage: thought so but had to ask, thanks @snowb1canob : Crazy dog ordered 12 (huge discount of random pshrooms) and forgot to check on srynges he used ![]() He thought about cutting the bag and putting that brick into FC. Is there any difference if he cuts the brick and make a casing, do they get more food, substrate or is the same with brick, since water is 90%? And if so, is it better to shake it before to prevent solid brick and then make casing out of that, or its cutting ok (brusing is in question here) (his is solid now)?

Squish it up while it is still inside of the bag to break up the brick into individual grains (a little chunky is ok too) then cut the bag open and pour the grains into a pan and either mix with, case with or both mix and case with damp vermiculite. The vermiculite will up the water retention drastically and you will get a much better crop. This is the easiest method to improve upon what you have at the moment. This section of the vaults will help you with this method or you can read about similar methods: http://forums.mycotopia.net/coir-peat-vermiculite/ However, if you feel confident you can also crumble up that brick and spawn it to a substrate material that has some nutrients like manure or straw. This is will DRASTICALLY improve your crop, but you've got a lot of reading in the vaults to do first!

Dog got more then 100g dry shrooms out of one big grain cake and its going round 7 now. Very pleased with his first grow, and will experiment with other stuff like prints and lc before going into casing. He just loves mycology more and more and likes to take things eazy. Also loves the taste of all mushies he tried and just doesnt understand the people who hate it.

He used bulk, only rolled that big ass cake in verm after dunking, didnt want to risk contams with casing procedure, since previous experiments with jars failed and he was desperate to see some progress. The bag he bought was presterilzed grain 2,7kg/4,5l. Had a bit problem with pining at first round (3weeks nothing) so had to dunk to get flush, so after 3 days ... kabooom. Also figured that too much air exchange didnt help much, 2-3 times is optimal. He read that they like constant temperature and moisture so i guess too much venting is not good, as some recommend, but we will see in future whats the right formula. He keeps em closed in terrarium btw. Now he pcd his own bag and the costs were 10x cheaper, myc is almost done in there (takes 3 weeks or a month), few days and a new cake is born.
