Myc Water Question

How long is myc water good for? I've had good success with it before, and made up a batch 2 days ago to noc up a bunch of BRF jars with. (Growth in less than 24 hours!)

I shot a few syringes of sterile water into a 1/2 pint of fully colonized pcorn. It was an extremely pretty jar, great rhizo and starbursts. I shook it up really good and sucked the water out and shot it into a 1/2 pint jar half full with sterile water. How long will that jar of myc water be viable for if kept refrigerated? Also, my fridge can be kind of tempermental and freeze things sometimes. If the jar should happen to freeze, would it still be good if thawed out?

The life of the culture is limited to available nutrition and fresh air exchange. When it runs out of oxygen or food, it's done.

Freezing would definitely be detrimental to the myc... so try to prevent that from happening. Refrigerating will definitely keep it viable longer, but I wouldn't be sure how long to put a number on it. I'd recommend making up an LC and putting some myc water in there to keep it going

Good advice. Myc. water should be used ASAP--no nutes to keep it alive.

Freezing is very bad and will usually kill it.

Myc in sterile distilled water kind of goes into suspended animation, it doesn't die immediately. It will stay usable for a while (probably 2-3 months) but growth will be likely slow when you introduce food again.

Myc water is also called a slurry and yep, ya should use it as quickly as possible.

OK thanks guys. I'll transfer that myc water to a few LC's. Hopefully I'll have some luck with LC's this time around. I have the proper lids and an airport now so hopefully they won't contam like last time.
