![]() | Best way to crumble BRF cakes for spawn?
A FOAF was wondering what the best way would be to breakup 1/2 pints for use as spawn, without a blender? He would like to do this inside the glovebox, along with the trays of substrate, keeping everything nice and clean. How would you know if you're damaging the mycelium too much? |

With the cakes already being 100% colonized you dont have to worry to much about being super sterile no need for the GB. So I always put on some rubber gloves wiped with alcy and just crush them up into small bits into a plastic container and then cover with tinfoil with holes punched in it so the myc can breath. Let that sit for a week to recover and you will be good to go.
