![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Automating my wardrobe. Wardrobe advice needed.
So, I'm moving in the direction of automation. I've had 3 tubs in this wardrobe for the past week and now that I've had the time to actually really care for them I realize that my humidity is too darn high as the substrate itself is collecting condensation. I've got a drip shield above the tubs. The drip shield is set more like a tent rather than just one sheet of plastic at a 45 degree angle. I'm using a Vick's sonicator. I'm thinking that I'm going to have to set this guy on a timer. I also have a fan-sponge-based humidifier in there that circulates air more than puts out any humidity. Any suggestions on the timer for the sonicator? One hour on, two hours off? How have some of you with wardrobes have your settings? I've got some pinning so all is not lost. Looks like the fungus is putting out some antibios though as it looks sappy in some areas. Help appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

I built an ultrasonic using an aquarium pump and one disc fogger. Got a digital timer with 20 on/off setting per day. I run it on for 10 mins and off for sixty two. That evenly distributes humidity for 24 hours. When it's humid out RH is always as 99% but on sunny days RH drops about 1% for every 10 mins the fogger's not running, keeps RH at average 95% which is perfect. Temp is kept steady 73.5F by the heating unit. Setup runs great without forming lots of water on the walls, just a bit on rainy days, but not enough to drip. I got the timer at the hardware store. What do you do for FAE? Moose |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Before and after work I'm able to make FAEs. However, the rest I'm hoping to automate. The wardrobe zips up and across. The across portion is always left unzipped. The bottom of the wardrobe is open to facilitate carbon dioxide escape. However, I do have a fan inside my wardrobe that keeps air constantly circulating inside. I think with my fan and openings I'm doing fine. I've got pins with this set-up in one week. It's my humidity that I'm needing to fine tune. Right now I'm gonna try 15 mins on and 45 off and work down from there till I'm comfortable. Right now, I'm additionally adding some 1/4 inch peg board to the bottom of the wardrobe to reinforce it as the cheap little corners I made aren't really holding up. Is there any cheap type of test strip or electrode based device that I could get to measure CO2 or O2? Okay, thanks. Joined. |

If you want you can try running the air out of the humidifier through a scrubber to lower the moisture content in the air before it's pumped into the FC. Easy way to do that is run a hose from the humidifier into a 2L pop bottle, then another hose from that bottle to another, and so on. The more bottles you have the more water will drop out, but make sure to mount the bottles upside down so it's easy to drain them, or just run drain hoses from the bottles back into the water reservoir. Some people fill one bottle with something like a series of screens or scrubbing pads to increase efficiency. A timer would work too and save you lots of work soon as you get it set right. Moose |
