![]() ![]() | Hole in bag during pastuerization, now what?
I mixed up some coir and verm, brought up to field capacity and tried to pasteurize. I will probably write my first tek soon entitled "How not to pasteurize". Somewhere along the way the bag got a pinhole and now my substrate is wet. Besides squeezing as much water as I can, (which it will still be to wet) is there anything else I can do to dry it out but not ruin my pasteurized substrate. I use the term pasteurized substrate loosely. Thanks. |

Shouldn't be a big problem to squeeze all the water out of the bag, I think!? When I spawn to a bulk substrate I often pour a bit too much water into it. Then I just try get rid of the excess water to reduce it to something like field capacity.

It should not take much to pasteurize coir and vermiculite. You could try oven pasteurization if you are unhappy with the moisture content. Or past. in jars instead of a bag. You could also use a pillow case and let it cool/drain for several hours. Good luck!
