![]() ![]() ![]() | how long do mss last ?
FOAF's question ? He just PC'D a bunch of jars and pp5 3 cup containers of BRV. Then he checked out his supply of MSS'S. Them multi spores sat one month in the closet and then five months in the crisper in the fridge. So, six months since made. When taken out of the fridge they looked good. One clump of dark spore mass. As his usual method of breaking up his mass of spores in syringe.... He tapes plunger and cap of gun and wrapes up in clean cloth , puts in cloths dryer on air dry for 20 min's. This does break up clumps. But, this time when he took them out and examined and thinks that the spores have germinated in syringe. Not the typical black dots. Now he has whispy strands in syringe. Thus, him think spores germinated in syringe doring air temp storage. Will these germinate or grow mycil in said brv containers or are they a total waste of time to try to use ? Should he just make more new syringes ? His containers of brv have been in the pc already and ready to go ! He has done a lot of work thus far and does not want to waste his labor. What do you all think he should do ? Any reply's are better then none ! ![]() ![]() thanks! D man !

Assuming what has germinated in the syringes is mycelium.... then yes the growth will transfer over in the brf jars and continue to grow. I have used some syringes that have germinated plenty of times, with great success. I have even used a year old liquid culture to start new cultures. Mushrooms/Spores are quite resilient.

I have used syringes well over a year old with no problems. If the spores germinated in the syringe, you should be just fine. It just happens sometimes. I dunno about the dryer thing. It seems as though it might do damage to the syringe. I just shake the living hell out of them myself. A jewelry cleaner is ideal but expensive, unless you can borrow one. Those cubie spores are sticky, huh? I look forward to your grow log. Always interested in PE grows in particular. Peace! And good vibage on the grow. |

thanks jammer ! Actually the wrap of rag around the syringe helps from bumps and bruses.... It does knock the hell out of them tho ! works so far. Must tape the plunger in place first though. Stop's from squirting out the goods ! Oh yea, have many PE grows under the belt ! Peace ! D man

So, using said mss's. On 8/23 five pint jars and two , three cup containers were knocked up with PE and four three cup pp5 containers were knocked up with golden teacher. Typical brv, nothing special. Put in IC with heat bomb. Temp kept at 85* +/- . On day three seeing some growth in a few containers. Day eight all containers are showing good growth. During past incubation, IC has had uneven heat. hotter at top then the bottom. Found a small computer fan and placed in bottom of IC next to heat bomb. This has worked well evenly distributing the heat in chamber. seems all containers are warm. they are stacked in a cooler that has been injected expanding foam. Noticed that walls and lid were not insulated at all. So far it has kept heat in without heat bomb working so much. So thinking with such fast growth. syringes did not contain spores. they must have germinated. That was the fine whispy stuff in syringes. Most other grows it took at least five days to see any growth. Now a week later very good growth.
