Apartment growing sandbags vs monotubs

Hey everybody Ive got to go looking for a place to live for the next little bit any advice on things to look for that can be helpful to this hobby are appreciated, Ill most likely be getting an apartment for the next 8 months.
A couple years ago at university I leased a place to live with a couple buddies and there were people that lived downstairs but it was seperated. I managed to fruit 3 monotubs at a time there in my room but there were plenty of moments when the landlord showed up unnanounced and it was a mad dash to hide everything etc...
When I move into my new place hopefully Ill have some more privacy but Id like some advice on the best use of my space. I suppose ideally the best thing to do would be get a big lockable container that fits in a closet and has room for tubs fans a light but that may not be practical.
Right now im wondering about using sandbags or monotubs. When I did tubs I used polyfill filters which obviously look weird and need to be covered if anyones around. Ive seen since then instead of polyfill or tyvek just many small holes which is a bit more stealthy. I also used solid colour tubs with a press n seal lid. Perhaps a clear lid on a solid or opaque tub would be more stealthy?
The otheer option is sandbags which I feel take less room than tubs because you can "mold" the sub I imagine (have seen them in log shapes and as a circle) as well as make the open air space of the bag whatever size you want. I also feel like a bunch of sandbags could be clustered say on a shelf in a closet and when Im there have the lights on and a fan running in the room and when I leave for a bit just cover it with sheets so that no one would find them without going digging through it in which case if Im fucked id be fucked in any situation
Any tips experience advice is appreciated

The mycro bags with a tyvek filter patch work well for neglect invitro. During colonization they can be hung on hangers and a shirt placed on the hanger to cover the bag. Then when fruiting, just remove the shirt a few hours a day and expose to light. Very stealthy if needed. No muss, no fuss, just cut open and harvest when the time is right. Subsequent flushes can be done inside the bag, spawned to bulk or fruited in an FC, whatever your preference. Hippie sells some great premixed, sterilized bags. You could look at purchasing supplies from the sponsors.

Don't know where you live, but where I come from landlords aren't allowed to drop in unannounced and snoop. They have to give notice before doing work or inspecting. You might want to check laws in your area that protect renters' privacy. But with this setup, the shirts cover the bag at all times unless you're exposing to light, which can be done late in the evening for 3 or 4 hours at a time of day when it's less likely that unwelcome visitors will drop by to have a look.

The pic below doesn't show the shirt on the hanger, but FOAF has a good setup that gives you the idea. He staples the bag to the hanger, as duct tape tends to come off. Fold the top of the bag over the bottom of the hanger and carefully staple through the part of the bag that is above the seal, not in the area where contams might get into the bags.

I think you should look into ordering sandbags from Mycrotopia and see how they do for you. Apartments will be hard to impossible to do any homemade bulk stuff yourself without making an obscene mess. Plus sandbags could be tossed in an emrgency very easily leaving no trace.

sandbags would be real easy for you and real low key doing bulk at an apartment isnt so bad though except for the noise of the pressure cooker good luck and be safe my friend im about to be back into an apartment myself

oh yeah i did it all in there up to leaching in the bath tub just speakin from my person experience the PC was the worst the neighbors even had to put up with it which didnt make me too comfortable shreddin poop is not the problem really its just bringing all that shit in your place people are nosy assholes

Landlords have no right to look inside of your closets even if they notified you in writing that they will be coming in for an inspection, etc. Unless of course the fuse box is in there, but most of the time they have no need to look at that either. So look for a place with a nice sized closet, maybe put a lock on it.

definitely put a lock on it and if you meet your maintenance people see how cool they are while being subtle almost all of mine have been extremely down individuals not that you want them to know what you got going on its just a nice reassurance that those who can enter your place are somewhat hip

Oh ya this time around Im just planning on getting a syringe from a local shop making 10 LC's and lettin Hip do the rest of the work lol gonna order some spawn bags and most likely spawn them to sandbags. Was considering fruiting the spawnbags invitro but they're only 3 cups to the sandbags 24 so It seems kind of pointless not to.
And ya Ive had enough landlord scares to last me a lifetime. I had a landlord who was a real dick and couldnt sell the apartment I was in (partly cause it was messy as fuck which was partly because he was a dick) so hed constantly be showing up at the worst times imaginable. Sometimes it was actually like a movie Ill try to remember some of the times:
-He once showed up to show the place to a group of people interested in renting. At the time I was halfway through eating a half quarter or so of dried fruits. Most of my comrades had already finished theirs. The dick didnt call till about 10 minutes before he was banging on the door, a time when we had all turned our phones off cause we wanted to trip balls without being disturbed by any dicks.
-He once called when I was in the middle of campus (45 minute walk home) to inform me that hed be at my place in 20 minutes to show it to some people, again out of the blue. I told him that I didnt think anyone was home and he told me not to worry, hed let himself in. When I told him I want 24 hours notice he said he had given notice before but the house was still dirty. Cry me a fuckin river. Anyways this wouldnt have been such a tremendous pain in the ass if I had cash on me for a taxi. Which I didnt. Luckily a friend of mine was on campus and we waited what seemed an eternity for a taxi, sprinted inside and covered everything up without a minute to spare before the dick showed up. My room had 3 monotubs under a light with a fan pointing at them right in the middle when I got home.
-Once the dick showed up to collect a paycheck at like 10pm again no notice when me n my comrades are in the kitchen with a goddamn bail of straw from a farm supply store the size of the oven and 20 pounds of cow poo or so with shit and straw EVERYWHERE. Were talkin to him at the front door (from where u can see the entrance to the kitchen but not in it), if he had 1 look at the inside of that kitchen wed of been done
-Once the dick came to show the house and the fridge was stuffed top to bottom with quart jars of grain either pre or post PCing and he was in the kitchen for like 5 minutes but didnt open the fridge. Pretty much everytime hed show up unnannounced and it would be a mad dash to conceal the tubs while my boys grabbed up assorted bongs nug digis etc lol
-Im sure a couple times he was over with the huge PC on the stove and the house smelling like rye

But ya processing bales of straw and bags of poo in an apartment is sketchy as hell

This may be a little off topic, but could those bags have the first flush harvested and then be fruited like a log?

You could probably take one of those 30 dollar plastic cabinets from walmart and make a greenhouse fit to the inside of it with some ABS pipe and some elbows. You could get a cheap shelving unit and have a small martha with several casing trays for pretty damn cheap..

That's pretty much what FOAF is doing. He harvested his first flush from the bag and now the cake is in a FC doing a second flush. Seems to work well, that substrate is prime stuff!!

I never had a problem doing bulk grows in an apartment using the monotub tek. Everyone's apartment is different so results will vary. For example, right now I am living in a 2 story apartment with a patio and everything, very private and lots of space.

I really love sandbags. They're kind of big, but could you use a heavy duty clothes hanger with a jacket to cover? I guess hanging would reduce fruiting area, but it could work.
The idea with the mycrobags sounds pretty good. I wonder what the invitro yield would be? I'm sure, with rotation, it would be more than enough.

No need to get cute with covering the huge sandbags with coats, I imagine no fresh air exchange or light is bad for fruiting. Ill probably just pack a bunch into a closet and run a fan in a room. If Im not there or someones coming in just cover with a sheet, clothes, etc...
If the person is going to be digging through your shit your pretty much screwed unless you have a magic invisibility cloak. One of my first landlord visits I stacked 3 tubs ontop of each other and threw a sheet over em in a corner of the room, he ecame in looked straight at it and said what do you have here? I nearly shat my pants. He was talking about my jersey collection which was infront of it lol
Tubs have a bulky rigid frame the majority of which's volume is air, making them unnecessarily hard to hide (especially if theyve got visible filters on the side or are see through) And in an emergency if you had to move your stuff just removing your substrates from the tubs can break em in half and then you need something to store it what a disaster. You could probably throw a bunch of sandbags in a duffle bag, especially if they were colonized you could open the bags and roll them down temporarily to remove all air space. If you didnt need to move them but just hide them Im sure you could lump them together or stack them and consolidate them much easier than tubs etc...
