contam or bruising pics

Ok here is what I have, I have some jars colonizing and Im seeing this black looking shit. But before you judge I read that bruising can be caused by alot of handling, I have handled them everyday checking to see progress. Either way I trust you guys fully and am confident you know what to do in this situation so what you guys say goes here. Also I have pulled a cake and ran it under water and tested first with my finger for smears then I tested with a q-tip and a peice of toilet paper and have gotten no transfer what so ever. So do I trash or keep?

Agghhghgh those are badly contaminated. I can see black, green, orange and a little bit of pink even... Toss em.

Those jars do not appear too healthy. Black shit is a bad, bad sign. Is there any smell from the jars like a fermented smell? Have the questionable spots grown at all?

The jars look pretty wet, too. I can't say for certain to toss them, but I would isolate them from anything else you have going.

I hope I am wrong.

It does totally suck but I had a good feeling they would as I am not experienced enough to try an pull off what I did. I made my own spore prints from mushies from the pasture. I called myself steralizing everything but I slipped somewhere along the line... DARN!! I was all excited to the first days went well.

I know you were wild collecting, did you use spores from a wild print? It's very hard to grow from a wild print if you don't use agar to clean it up, and that can be a long, multi step process.

If you used a purchased syringe, then it could be a lot of things... make sure you clean the hell out of your work area with bleach first and foremost, then we can talk about your procedures. That sub definitely looks too wet as well.

EDIT: too fast on the draw! Yeah, i would suggest ordering a syringe from one of the sponsors. You're too new to jump into agar work, it will just frustrate the hell out of you. Good luck with the next project!

All I have is one jar without contam. but It might be coming though I will isolate it J.I.C. The jars have had water spots since I made them did i make verm and brf to damp? The spots are indeed growing...

Awesome I had planned on ordering anyway just wanted to see if I could pull it off with the wild ones. Guess I should have dug deeper in the archives as I would have prob. Known there was more than met the eye but Im going to do exactly as you guys said clean up and "I'll be back" with store purchased spores next time!

If you could see big damp spots on the sides of the jar after cooking then yes, they were too wet. BRF substrate should be mixed to field capacity only... so if you pick some up in your fist and squeeze real hard, you should only be able to get a few drops out. It can take a little practice to get it right.
