![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Agaricus Bitorquis grow log
OK, I thought it would be really cool to actually grow some shrooms instead of just talking about them and looking at spores under a microscope. So I obtained some Agaricus Bitorquis from sponsor sporeworks Here is my lc I made. The LC is distilled water, 4% liquid dextrose and a pinch of nutritional yeast. ( i made two, but the second one got contamed by rust from the lid) And yes I do need to bubble it. ![]() the next pics are jars I knock up with different grains, rye, wheat and millet I had one wheat jar the took off like a mad man with mycelium. The others are responding to higher incubation temps, above 77 degrees. I guess with the jar that took off, that might be some accidental isolation. That is as far as I have gotten so far ![]() ![]()

Personally not familiar with Agaricus Bitorquis , but that looks like your are growing trich. Is it just the pic or is it actually green?

Very cool - this should be fun to watch! You know about Agaricus needing a "live" casing layer, right?

Agaricus needs live microorganisms in the casing layer to fruit.

I've seen photos of Agaricus growing on a vermiculite casing. But do take into account, that bacteria from a pasteurized substrate will colonize a sterile casing, quickly. I like to pasteurize the horse manure/compost, spawn it and allow it to colonize, then pasteurize peat moss (ph adjusted to 7-7.8) and apply it. Allow the casing to evenly colonize and then soak it with water to near max, water holding capacity. Pop into fruiting conditions and just let it roll. ,
