![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Preventing chalky buildup on glass jars
I posted in another thread a good way to prevent the white chalky buildup (which i believe is from the evaporation of the chlorine in the water?) is to use a little white vinegar in your pc water. I just wanted to post this here so we can all see it. I use just plain old wal fart brand vinegar and it works great. I don't measure it out, just pour some in with your water.

I feel I should mention that this is only a good method as-is for the OUTSIDE of jars. And no scrub to boot - pretty nice! If you want to clean the insides of jars from residue, what worked for me was soaking in a bucket of water with 1L vinegar for a day, then emptying and soaking for a second day in water with Sunlight dish detergent. Leaving vinegat on the insides of jars will kill spores. A scrub & rinse, jars are ready for use.

CLR is great for removing calcium/lime buildup. No scrubbing at all. Just a moist sponge and - zang - it's gone.
