![]() ![]() ![]() | People do use lake, pond, river water, so i have herd. I have used rain water before. I used it to wet verm before mixing brf and on cakes with nice resultes. No added contams in my case ! Guess spring water would be the better of the above, since it has filtered through the ground !?! Still, any natural source water will contain impurities ! If it is clean, better then from the tap i say ! Peace !

Notice how clean the air smells after a good rain? That's because the rain washed away all the crap. And guess where the crap is????? Don't want to rain on your parade, but the stuff really can be rather nasty.

I use rain and snow as water sources. Harvesting and collecting water is pretty neat - I find that it has a shelf life so use it quick I don't know about the purity of the water but my plants have never seemed to mind. A pH tester might help with that decision. Water should be near 7.0 or really close thereabouts. I don't use the water for indoor fungal cultivation. Containers harbor bacteria and other microbes. Pre-packaged water (or tap water) is cleaner. Outdoor projects however, LOVE rainwater. I have used snow - as if there were a difference - but I was capitalizing on lower temperatures for a cold-fruiting woodlover project. Bacteria couldn't hope to get a foothold in those projects. Experiment and go with what works.

I always use creek water from a running stream, not a sitting water body. I found two advantages by doing this: 1. There's no chlorine and additives in the water 2. There's a bunch of organic matter in the water that add nutes to the grow I used to use tap water with limited results, and soon as I switched to creek water I've had significant improvements. I've used water from my freshwater aquarium before, saves the trouble of carrying a bucket of water on my head from the local watering hole...

No running water around me, either. I take nice, clean tap water and nasty it up with EarthJuice. After a few days brewing, it looks/smells a lot like pond water!
