![]() ![]() ![]() | In Vitro Liquid Culture
Here is something really cool. I use a stir bar and stir plate with my liquid cultures. When the bar is stirring at full speed it raises the level of liquid a little. Well I had one that I had let sit for a couple days on the counter without the stir bar going. Being on the counter, it was exposed to daily sunlight. I looked at it tonight and this is what I saw; some little shroom babies growing where the liquid goes up to while stirring. It's hard to see in the pictures through the glass, but you can kind of see the outline in the second picture. I'm thinking about cloning the one of the little buggers. If they grew there they have to be pretty strong and resilient, not? It's also just kind of cool. Any thoughts on this? The first picture is where the cluster with the biggest shrooms is, attached to the glass. The second picture is the same cluster from the other side of the jar. Sorry for the crappy quality. It's hard to photograph something that small through a layer or two of glass. |

I just wanted to add that this is dixieland. I've read great things about it being a nice strain, but this is surprising. I'll have to see if I can get more, but better quality, pics. The mycelium is growing bigger. I think I may see some caps forming in a few different places now. Very, very small, but it's a darker spot. I'm thinking I'm going to have to open this up pretty soon to clone. I might close it back up and see how much it grows before it becomes contaminated or the growth starts rotting.
