FC To Dry!?

Hi got 2 whole rice cakes in ma' FC one of the cakes has started to pin (one pin but better than none) anyway my grow area isn't quite as i would like. I live with my girlfriend and her 10 yr old daughter who as they say "don't miss a trick" so my FC is located in a cardboard box. The FC is a snug fit in this box i figured this would hinder FAE so i installed (duct taped) a 90mm 12v pc fan to the back of the box and have this running of a 6v adapter so it's only running @ half speed.

Another thing i could not decide on were the holes in the FC i thought that the shotgun FC design wouldn't work as holes on all six sides + wet perlite + cardboard would = contams so i settled on six about 1 and a half inch holes one on each end high up and two on each side low down (just above the perlite) i then loaded up the wet perlite (one bag 5ltrs) this was about 2+ inches then added warm salt water (about an inch) then added me cakes on tinfoil.

i installed inside one "cheap" hygrometer which after a while read 69f 99%rh. I figured this was a bit chilly so added a thick towel folded over on top of the lid, with the LED light on during the day it hovers around 72f and at night about 70f. So i got thinking (ohhh) again that there don't seem to be much condensation forming on the side of the FC (hence the to dry?) so do you think that the pc fan is drying out the air to much (says 99%rh but all cheap hygro's say that don't they!) i mist once a day (read not to mist pinning cakes directly!?) so don't want to waterlog 'em i soak the top layer of verm on them and mist the walls/perlite but within a few hours all the water droplets on the FC walls are gone and it look's "dry" in there so i guess i was looking for some advice. More holes in FC? switch off pc fan? more misting? i'm loathe to disrupt me cake's to much and don't want to risk ruining th FC.

Thanx.

I wouldn't run that fan much. You could easily throw it on a timer of some sort although honestly if you just had access to take the lid off and fan it like that manually 2-3 times a day that should work. I wouldn't let that fan run for more than 30 minutes a day personally, I have had aquarium pumps dry out shotgun FC's from running 24/7.

Ok been running 24hr will turn it off for a bit and see. The guy who was livin' with us has moved out now so all my "hobbys" can be located into the spare bedroom (MWAHAHAHA) so this box cr@p won't be needed for long so misting/fanning will be enough FAE for this?.

Concerning my new "secret lab" (MWAHAHA sorry always wanted me own grow area/room) the guy who slept in there lets just say keeping the room clean n tidy wasn't a top priority dirty dishes and half eaten food was often left for days (weeks!!) and i often spotted "triched" up food stuff. I have since hoovered floor (no carpets now) repainted whole room removed all of the rest of his items from the room i was wondering if there are any other measures i could take to ensure a good clean growing area. Should i air the room out (leave windows and door open) or keep it all as still air as possible?.

Thanx.

Use a bleach/water mix and clean everything. Then get yourself an ionizer or two and run them in that room. UV sterilizers are also good to put around air vents.
