Do Popcorn or WBS absorb more/less water than Rye?

Rye can be prepared by putting 1 cup in a quart jar and 2/3rds to 3/4ths of a cup of water in the jar, pcing, then shaking after pcing to distribute moisture.
I plan to attempt the same with yellow corn and wbs consisting of white and red millet, black oil sunflower seeds, grain products, striped sunflower seds, peanuts, and canary seed
As of now I attempt to use the same substrate:water ratio, is there any reason I should use different?

According to this tek http://www.fungifun.org/English/Grain-For-Simple-Minds
rye grain can hold more than its own dry weight in water, i.e. rye:water 1:1+
while millet/birdseed is 1:0,6-0,7.
These ratios are by weight, not by volume - you could weigh your cups of rye/water to see how it corresponds.

It doesn't mention popcorn. And I don't know about the accuracy of those figures. I tried using the method for preparing WBS, but so far with 100% failure.. :-)

I prep all my grain the same way,using Rodgers TEK.
Search the vaults,it works every time.
