New to grain...

I am new to growing on grain.

I was wondering if someone could give some tips on an easy way as to not screw this up.

I've grown brf cakes before, but it's been several years ago.

I have 2 whole brown rice half-pints,and 2 popcorn half-pints that are fully colonized.I could not find vermiculite any where,or I would have just made brf cakes.

Any advice from you would be so appreciated.

And also,this site kicks-ass!!!

Oh,I was thiking of doing some kind of invitro fruiting inside bigger jars. All I have is cow-poo.Is there anything I can do with that?

Welcome to 'Topia, friend.
There are some good Teks on Poo/Straw mixes for bulk.
People I know have used worm castings with success.
Just search and read! I'm short on time, or I would have searched and posted the links for ya, buddy.

Bienvenidos, and take a moment to look at the Rules of conduct here: http://forums.mycotopia.net/board-ru...mycotopia.html (Rules Of Conduct, Defining Mycotopia)

First of all, welcome to Mycotopia!

Those are very nice looking jars. Very healthy rhizo growth on that myc.

I am not a cow poo guy, but here is a link to the "Dung" section of the vaults. Lots of poo info in here:
http://forums.mycotopia.net/compost-...worm-castings/

What you need to do is get that grain spawned (i.e. mixed) with about 3 times it's volume of a poo based bulk substrate. You can fruit just the grain, but grain doesn't hold enough water to grow lots of mushrooms.

Check The Banzai Institute in my signature line. Lots of info there.

Once you have some specific questions in mind, it is a lot easier to give you good answers.

Smile

Thanks Buckaroo.

I would have tried to spell the rest of your name, but it confuses my brain sensors.LOL.But seriosly,I was looking into some kind of B.B. nug.

I think you have the big-mason-jar-tek.I was wondering if it can be done with just cow-poo and colonized substrate?

Thanks for everbody's replies.

It was just a joke about the name. You are a legend around here.

I hope I did'nt offend you.

No problem, man. And Bucky or Buck or Buckaroo are all fine.

You could do a cpoo nugget in a gallon Mason jar. Just get that poo broken up real well so it will shake and don't fill the jar more than 1/2 full of grain and substrate - leave space for the mushrooms to grow!

Man,

Thanks.I thought I could do something like that, just wanted a second expert opinion.I really like the gallon jars you've done.I think that's what I'me gonna try.

Just don't want to do ruin my myc by newb-mistakes.Those rhisos are pretty bad-ass aren't they!

Thanks for info.I will be studying the B.B. method of growing.
