![]() | Technique For: Casing's 2nd Flush . . .
(Casings are Amazon with coir/verm) i read that all pins are formed before 1st flush, so scratching after 1st flush is picked would be bad, right? should i just pick the 1st flush, then re-hydrate with water spray? Peroxide? Basically I need help getting better second flushes? Any suggestions / ideas. . . ? thanks 4 your time!! |

Yeah id just pick the first flush, and rehydrate with spraying. Some do dunks some dont depends on if you would be able to. Also I wouldnt spray with peroxide unless you have a reason to.

I scraped one time and it completely ruined my second flush. Took forever and I didnt get shit out of it. I recommend spraying quite a bit. Dunking is a pain in the ass. My casings always end up breaking and I never can get them drained enough. If spraying with peroxide I would hope your diluting it at a 10 to 1 ratio or so.

scrape off casing....soak in big baggie, be very sterile, ie; air,surfaces,containers,hands....let soak for about 4-5 hours....rebirth to maximum 'fruiting conditions, fresh air exchange and you will be good to go!

Ok right from the start I disagree with you here. I have scrapped after every flush well into the 4-6 flushes. It will not ruin your entire grow from just scratching the surface a little. Just dont dig in like your trying to get dinner.

Hmmmmmmm alot of us scrape and never have problems like that, then again it also depends on how hard and deep you scraped as well. If a sub is too big to be dunked then just flood the tub let is sit flooded for a couple hours and turn it on its side to drain, one hand on sub to keep it from falling and allow all water to drain out, allow to set normal for a 30 to 60 minutes and repeat till there is no water coming out of the tub, now if you can take the sub out and dunk it, dunk it for 3 to 4 hours and then after the dunk you want to let it set on something like 4 half pint jars so it can drain till its not dripping at all and it will be good, if you take your tub and put on hand on it in the center the slowly filp it over it will come out no problem and will go back in the same way. Um why would you be spraying your sub with H2O2 anyway, unless its contamned with cob web, maybe I am missing something here but, H2O2 will cause rosecomb and will also, if too much has been sprayed on the sub will not do the mycelium any good thats for sure.

First off I definitely agree that the h2o2 is not needed. As far as the scraping though I tried it and it didnt work for me. I do see however that you guys are talking about scraping the casing layer off which I dont even use one for cubies. His questioned seemed to be asking about scraping the top of the sub itself. To each is their own and do what works for you but scraping was never beneficial for me.

Have had mixed results with scraping bulks. Once it screwed up the 2nd flush(it seemed). The other few times I've done it, it really stimulated growth. Much more research needed(by me), d/t lack of adequate experience. As a general rule, I don't case my subs. A light scraping is all I will do. I believe either way will work, with enough patience and observation.

When I have a casing layer and it´s time to harvest, I just pick the shrooms and give a little slaps on the tray, to scatter the casing to the hole, covering it =] Scratch seems bad to me, (even though to panaeolus, inimaginable...weak myc) |
