![]() | First Time Grow (Invitro) Moisture Question
Hello all, first post here, finally had a reason to. I have started a small (for now) grow op with 10 1/2pt jars. Due to a few mishaps along the way (too much time in the PC, temp during colonization was unstable, curiosity showed the jars excessive light), my jars never finished colonizing. I believe the halt in colonization was due to the cakes being overly dry, as I put them in the PC for about an hour and a half. I injected ~1.5cc of sterile water into each jar, and Mycellium growth began anew, but still didn't finish. At this point the jars started pinning. Due to this I have decided to go with Hippies Invitro Neglect Tek and let the cakes grow their fruit inside the jars, and hopefully colonization will continue as that happens (thinking Chronik Tek or casing for future flushes). This led me to believe that insufficient water was the problem in the cakes, and so I injected ~3cc into each of the cakes again last night, and there has been a increase in Myc growth (not to mention the shrooms that are already there are seemingly growing more rapidly). So I wonder if there is some method I can use to tell if more water is necessary or if I should let the cakes do their thing the way they are now, as I don't want to drown them. tl;dr: Is there any way to tell if there is enough moisture in my jars or if I need to inject more? I uploaded some pics of the jars so you can see what I am working with: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You have probably injected enough water, I would think, which is risky considering the cakes aren't 100% colonized. I would just let them grow for now. If they aren't colonized when the fruits are ready, I would birth them in a glovebox and cut off any uncolonized substrate. Once you do birth them, dunk them for at least 12 hours between each flush, which provides plenty of moisture for fruiting. Good luck. |

![]() ![]() | wonderful looking shrooms you got there please keep posting pics. for the second flush will you return the cake to its jar? if i were you, i'd follow the advise to open jars in a glovebox and remove any uncolonized substrate. then remove the shrooms and dunk. i grew some eq's invitro once but that was a mistake... i'd love to see a good grow log of invitro keep up the good work |
