![]() | Pictures Through the Grapevine - help
Well somehow or another i got recruited to help someone. These jars were perfectly white and healthy three days previous, then the temp got turned up 6-8 degrees and they started discolouring almost immediately. I hope these picture uploads do them justice, you should be able to see light-medium discolouration in the blueish range, along with some other slight colours. Should they be tossed? Bruising? I don't know, but thats why I'm plugged into this communnity. It also doesn't help that I'm moderately colourblind :P |

Ya, I donīt think that itīs a problem...in the first pic I think itīs pretty healthy, in the second is possible to see the yellow color (sometimes itīs normal, not comtamination), but I think is good to wait to see how it goes =]

My PF jars have only bruised blue like that when I had really slow colonization and they started to dry out. How long have they been incubating and what temps have they been at? I also agree with taking off the foil or tape or whatever is on the lids. They need some air to breathe or they will stall.

Substrate is Fine BRF, hippie's super cake (most of the extras). They actually have all been very slow to incubate actually. Temps 78* F (I believe, will check and correct if wrong) Lids are on top with the innoc holes taped. Will just untaping the holes create enough AE? |

That looks like sporulating aspergillus to me. Its color looks drab green rather than bluish bruising of cubie mycelium. If and when you birth those jars you could check the spots with a q-tip for spores. I hope my diagnosis is wrong. gluck
