....mycelia is deceiving. kinda looks grey and in some areas where its dark its just very light in color but its colonized. had to flash a light directly on it after a quick peak but it looks good to go.

well looks like the pinks decided to show some knotting. fanned the bins 2 times this week. for maybe a total of 20 seconds. may increase the airflow once the pins start showing. the substrate was very loose and the mycelia wasn't as firm as the cubes. so when the bin was moved the substrate cracked.

Never tried it with coir mixed in, but horse manure is awesome for growing oyster's on. That looks good! Initiating fruiting when you did, is prime time.

i have to say. i like the newspaper tek alot. but spawning to bulk dung is a little less time consuming. it takes quite a bit of time to ring out the newspaper and lay each piece out. however, you make up for it in pasteurization time. so i guess its a give take relationship. i find the spawning newspaper to take longer. but i have to pasteurize the dung longer. but the pasteurization setup for the newspaper is super easy.

yeah but ive fanned a few times daily and left the lid and holes out of the sides. not gonna get much more air exchange than its getting. its in a room with a fan as well. im having to spray a few times daily to keep it moist in there bc the fan dries it out. old culture as well.

They don't have that thin branchy coral look, so FAE is probably fine. Did the temps drop significantly since you last fruited the pinks? I know you said it's pretty warm where you live. If the temp hasn't changed that much, perhaps pink oysters just prefer a substrate higher in cellulose.

Looks real healthy eats! Nice bro! My first oysters did that same thing. Pretty sure to get those nice big meaty caps your gonna have to increase air exchange quite a bit. I beleive these can be fruited in open air in most cases. Just make sure the sub does not dry.

Sadly the nugget had bacteria so i wasn’t about to eat from it, but it was very pretty.

well for not doing much it was enough for two people to eat for a side dish at dinner lol.. sprayed down the substrate for a 2nd flush. didn't think the sub would hold up to a dunk. its very loose nit. not like a mass on newspaper. might try next a mix of coir/dung/newspaper pieces broken up. just have the newspaper mixed in to the substrate in little 2x2 inch pieces. see if that works for a future experiment.

"might try next a mix of coir/dung/newspaper pieces broken up." Nice, Iīm trying too "subs" now, one has dung and the other has almost only newspaper...the one with newspaper goes very faster! So I think to change the 50:50 coir/dung to 50:25:25 coir/dung/newspaper, for example, is a good idea =] Just telling what I can see here, letīs see how it fruits ^^

2nd flush. did something different this time. just left all the holes open and the lid halfway on the top. and hosed down the whole tub and all fruits about 3 to 4 times daily. didn't fan anything. let the fan in the room do the air exchange. and it seemed to help them out a little bit. next time im gonna have to bulk up the dung source. i think i might just grow in about a 90% dung/ 10% coir range. but the coir is absorbing the water well kinda like a casing. and im misting directly on all the dead pins, the fruits, the substrate with no issues. adding the moisture i think was the problem in the 1st flush. they are not very big but these had a nicer pink color to them.

well i know more fae. they are tiny. but after a dunk they blew up. this is after leaving the tub lid completely off in a room with a fan. being misted heavily 3 to 4 times a day on the sides, the substrate and the fruits. didn't help. thats as much fae i could get without automation. going to try something different next round with more holes.
