put your ready-to-go spawn in the refrigerator order bulk substrate from here: http://www.mycrotopia.com/catalog/ca...-dial-a-hippie when the items arrive - very quickly i've read take your spawn out of the 'fridge, break it up, and mix it with your new ready-to-go bulk sub pre-pasteurized and all

Golly had luck with dried grass clippings! Lots of people use coir by itself and have success. Getting more nutrients will probably make your culture produce more though. Hip's products are supposedly A+, there are several threads about his donkey doo!

Grains have lots of food in them. Just a little lacking on the water....Spawning to equal amount of verm or coir can provide some nice results. Each quart of grain used to yield me an ounce dry in 3-4 flushes. All I was doing was casing with some cactus soil and dunking in between flushes. Like Myc said tho dried leaves can give you a flush. Be creative.

The BRF would need sterilized and would probably just invite contamination. I would not recommend it. Coir and verm would be a fine combination. Here is a thread dedicated to alternate substrates- http://forums.mycotopia.net/fungi-gr...te-thread.html (Alternative Substrate Thread)
