![]() ![]() ![]() | Increase grain Colonization Speed 30-50%!
Hi, I tried this out a couple times before, and if done properly can really speed up the turnover rate of grain cultures. Its Super easy, and someone probably already wrote about it here. If not, heres the score: H2o Enhanced Grain to Grain Transfer (H2OGT)! Hypothesis: adding sterile water to the Grain Master prior to transfer will drastically increase the contact points of the establishing cultures, resulting in drastically reduced colonization times (similar to nutritive LC). This is especially true or handy if you, like me, tend to overfill your grain jars, leaving little room for shaking, making even distribution difficult/annoying. It is also handy in extending a grain master's power of innoculation (ie can do 13+ jars vs 10) Procedure: 1. Add 500 ml to a 1000ml GM, 2. shake, 3. transfer by either using a sterile spoon of just slosh a bunch in (if you over-pour you will have to dump excess h2o or it will pool and rot) For this experiment I just sloshed. note: I use a vermic or perlite "buffer zone" in the bottom of the jars to prevent moisture pooling, this is essential for the h2oGT Results: CHeck it out!! Amazonian strain, six days after H2OGT, vs Amazonian traditional 'dry' GT. H20GT jars are 90-95% complete (even the tall one aka "the tower of power,(about 2xthe others)" for whom this technique was used due to its length long colonize times!!) Traditional GT jars are about 30-40% colonized, much of the visible whiting is from the GM whereas the H20GT is whiting from mycelia washed free of the grainmaster, now on the new grain. pics: |

I´ll think on it with love =P Decreasing the colonization time is always a good thing ^^ You rocks man! Awesome tip! Thank you

Hey bro, I´m almost ready to try it, but I´m a little stupid to understand some things =/ The jars inocculated by G2G will be wet after the proccess, or the master grain jar, or the vermiculite bed on the bottom solves the problem? I don´t know if it sound like a doubt, I just want to confirm, my english isn´t too good =( I´m planning on use it to my king oyster jars huh I´m sure that it works ^^ Thanks for share it!
