I'm not sure how long it will take, but if you are using straw I'd try to get my spawn ratio higher. Mushies love the straw, but so does alot of other things lol. So ime, higher spawn ratio colonizes much faster. I have a tub with a low ratio that has been struggling since spawned because of the same thing.

Within any shroom 'family', like Cubensis, I think it depends a lot on the specific circumstances of the sub - moisture/aeration, how well it's mixed together, the incubation temperature etc, and the specific strain/substrain genetics. The way I do it, my pan. cambos take about 2 days to colonize a substrate of straw/horsepoo two times the size of the spawn. BUt this is the happy overlay strain as you know. My cubensis b+ takes a day or two longer.

Thanks for your opinions, I was only wondering because I have a sub that has been colonising for about 4 days now and from what I can see the surface is only about 80%-90% colonised with no rhizo growth and the myc is kind of weak looking. I think it may have too much water in it because I made the mistake of adding vermiculite to the poo and straw before I pasturised it. When it came to wringing out the mix the verm was stopping the water leaving the pillow case. I added some coir and dry verm to soak up as much water as possible which I think it may have helped but still not perfect. I will play the waiting game |
