Spawn to Bulk/ Spent Cakes Pull Through Indoors!

So I had 6 GT and 6 BR spent cakes. They were done fruiting and were drying out and showing signs of contamination (orangeish spots, might have been waste though).

I decided, what the hell, it's gonna be a while before this LC is done, why not just spawn to the boatload of coir and straw I have lying around?

So, I gave the cakes a 24 hour dunk and I did one tub of GT and one tub of BR. They colonized really slow, as was to be expected from spent cakes/tired myc.

One day low and behold the sub was mostly white and there were pins all over, so I birthed the tubs.

They have been in the FC for a couple days now and seem to be doing quite well for cakes that flushed 5 times prior to spawning. The bulk sub is kinda drying out, as you can see from the pic of the side of the tub the sub is starting to pull away from the sides ie. I need to flood these tubs after I pick these buggers. It is dry since the tub took twice as long as normal to colonize (about 1 month instead of around 2 weeks).

Left side tub is GT, right side is BR. I can't even tell the difference, they look exactly the same, good thing I labeled them hehe.

Pin porn. The one with the big shroom on the left is GT, the other pic is Br.

Hopefully after the flood the myc will pick up speed and give a nice, full yield.

Its always nice to get that last bit of magic out of your work instead of simply tossing the cakes in a pile in the yard (although that's where these tubs will inevitably end up hehe).

well 5 flushes and then 2 tubs sounds great to me. after the great flood, let us know how the next(wishful thinking) goes!!!!

Yeah, I will be sure to update since the second flush after a nice flood should be nice as hell. These tubs are still pinning like crazy. There is primordia all over the place, the mushrooms pictured are just the fastest ones to mature so far.

I once did this with spent cakes before my first time spawning to bulk just to get some experience and it flushed 3 times and never got contams, even though the sub was not completely colonized.

I have gotten some decent results from spent substrate which I took outside and spawned in a compost pile. I hope you get a couple nice flushes, man.
