LC question

just a curious question. today i started my first LC with a syringe. 2 quarts of F+ to be exact. i was wondering if a LC could be started by a chunk of live mycellium from a piece of popcorn, rye, brf, ets. or even an injection from another colonized LC. i dont see why not. i waited until my syringe came today, just to be sure not to ruin a half colonized jar. thanks!

not sure about from a grain, but i know from experience that lc to lc definitely works. you can take tissure samples from picked mushrooms and put it in a lc, so I dont see why not from a grain

yes sir all of the above, so long as you are clean. although making a lc with a half colonized jar is asking for problems. wait until a few days after it is completely white, then you can just shoot a little sterile water in, swish it around and suck it out. you should take a look at the vaults, there is vast amount of knowledge there. read the grain and lc sections that will really help you out and give you some ideas on what can be done and how to do it.

You could do all of those, but IMHO the best thing to do is to pick a strain you want to work with for a while, clone the ideal fruit, then drop that tissue sample in the LC so you are then growing a substrain LC instead of just a multispore. Don't waste your time just making a shit ton of multispore LC when you can isolate a substrain that will give you canopies every time. Just my .02.

In your question you are completely correct, in theory this could be done forever, however its really only recommended for the first 5-8 generations or runs of you would. Usually by that time it has managed for either decrease its zeal for life, or more likely you will see contaminates start to become problematic,, as the more you work with it the more likely you are to slip and not keep them out of the cycle.

Some sound advice right there!

Cloning will not guarantee a canopy-type grow everytime. I have seen clones perform very well and others that just plain sucked. It's still a bit of luck even with isolates. I have had better success cloning tissue from good clusters of growth than from simply big, stand-alone fruits. And I have taken to working with multiple clones to find the best performer. It takes a few tries sometimes, but science is all about experimenting, eh?

I have also had some amazing results with multispore grows, but an isolate will generally outperform most MS grows.
