Update on my first grow and wondering ...

    Hi all,

Well excited as I've been to start my new project, without checking and asking, I just ordered and started 4 strains.

B+, Z, John Allen, and South American.

I incubated 5 days ago and so far this is whats happening. There in a incubation room at 81.2 to 82.5 degrees constant.

Listed in order of current performance:

    1. John Allen: started within 3 days and is going very strong & fast. All 12 jars started by the end of day 4 and mycelum growth is great!

    2. South American: is coming in 2nd place as far as growth of mycelum
It started 3 days ago but growth is just behind John Allens but not by much. All 12 jars started by the end of day 4.

    3. Z: is coming in 3rd; only half the jars (6) started by the end of day 5. Growth of mycelum is slow compared to John's Allens.

    4. B+: It seems like it's struggling to even get started. I've got 6 that took 5 days to get started, and they are very tiny spots with no signs of moving forward yet. 6 that havn't even given me anything yet.

So I'm wondering if differant strains react differantly to differant temps in the while in the incubation stage?

What other variables can affect them.

Can spores be old and that play a part? I'm worried about the B+.

I thought the B+ was suppose to be the strongest out of the 4 and it's showing currently as the weakest starter. Maybe I need more patience hehe

    Cheers!

well any multispore injection is a genetic roll of the dice to begin with..
i could very well be that the b+ spores were old and tired..
or they could have just been at a lesser consentration which too could slow the jars down a bit when it comes to take off...
but hey as long as you got some myc growing that is a huge step in the right direction...

gotta be patient man, you're lucky you see anything after just 4 days of waiting...generally, germination of spores could take from 2-10 days in good situations...also, south american will likely colonize faster, but B+ will catch up don't worry, I recommend casing the B+ to straw and poo you will see some amazing results
