    PCing Plastics

So I took my new pc for a test drive and I had a few plastic wide mouth pint containers, the containers were pc safe, and I had thought the lids were but apparently not. I removed the foil in a glove box along with most of the mangled plastic and replaced with double layer tycek, think the will be hopes of saving these jars?

More importantly what can I use to cover said jars should I choose to use them again?

Lids or jars melted? What kind/type? I thought they had plastic lids that were pc'able... You can use tyvec with a rubberband perhaps...

Was the tyvek sterile? should be fine if it was. Many microaveable containers do not have microaveable lids, bit stupid IMO. I was caught with one too, I was pissed off since it was labeled as microwaveable, then in the fine print it excluded the lid! They were 2 different types of plastic.

BTW I now find it cheaper to buy food in containers rather than empty containers.

my advice in this case would be
during the pc phase to use just foil covers as lids
    then once sterilized and cooled
plastic lids can be snapped on top for extra safety.

Yeah the lids are apparently rated PP4 not PP5 like the jars, next time it will be foil

    Thanks
