![]() | There is no 'one way' to grow mushrooms, there are many teks and methods. If you have an airtight terrarium then you can get away with using a simple spray bottle. But if you have a bigger grow and want to spend more money to expand, try the humidifier. A damp casing of verm can further help in either case. |

![]() | Welcome to Mycotopia ![]() Perilite humidity tek is my favorite: http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushroo..._perlite.shtml I reccommend not placing cakes directly on the perilite, and using hydrogen peroxide mixed in with the peilite to keep it clean, or a little bleach will work too but I don't like the chlorine smell. Are you planning on cakes, casings, or spawned bulk substrates? (Cakes are the best for a begginer to gain experience about proper care, and to learn about the mushroom life cycle.) |

![]() | "would it be a bad idea to use perilite and also have this small humidifier in the container i plan on growing in?" The perlite should get you by, but the humidifier is good for the stage that you need to have air exchange. (when ever a tek takes about opening and fanning the case don't forget about lights,ect.... |

![]() | what you need depends on the size of the chamber to be humidified- electric humidifiers can do entire closets/rooms while perlite works great in aquarium-sized chambers. smaller chambers can just be hand-misted.

![]() | I have no humidifier. Shallow containers generate and maintain their own humidity. These tubs were fanned once or twice a day and dunked between flushes. The shallow tray does not mean small shrooms, there are a few 9 inchers there in the last one. The shrooms simply hit the lid and bend over. You could stack these boxes on top of each other. |

![]() | LOL... yes i remember being the newbie...welcome to mycotopia. The crew here are great! Well you don't put the humidifier in the chamber or it will short out...bad stuff, you need to run a hose into your chamber from the humider..something like you don't put a fish tank air pump in the tank....something like that... peace siam |
