Howdy, saw this on my front page this morning, thought some folks around these parts would appreciate the info being distributed. RIP Vince Welnick http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060603/..._nm/welnick_dc Its rarely a good thing when someone dies, but those darn rock musicians seem to think there's nothing left after making a few good tunes... The article makes it sound like he had been battling depression ever since Jerry died, maybe its good that Vince finally has ended his suffering... just too bad that he couldn't have found another way... On second thought, I think what's happening here is that God/Jerry is getting the rest of the band together in heaven for the Ultimate Hippie Jam Fest...and you thought you'd been to some long parties...

I met Vince when he was playing with The Tubes, a really great guy. The shock is finally starting to wear off, he will be sorely missed

Wow, that's horrible. Though I hadn't heard much out of Vinnie after Jerry's death, I had no idea he was battling depression. He was a very good keyboard player, and I guess that leaves Tom Constantine and Bruce Cornsby as the two living keyboardist who played with the dead, albeit briefly. Merl Saunders played with them in 1975, but it was just a show or two. Rest in peace, Vince; that just put a damper on my day.
