![]() | Why you should support Mycotopia - my thoughts As most of you know, Hippie3, the proprietor of Mycotopia, is in a bit of a pinch at the moment due to the recent hacking troubles. If you have considered giving something back to Mycotopia now is the time. I just thought I'd get on my soapbox for a moment and encourage those who have the means to donate to Mycotopia either by cash, print, contest or what have you, to do so. Here's why, depsite the fact that all of this information is available for free, you should donate: If you look around at the world today, I think most people will agree that the world is in a pretty fucked up situation. Pick your problem - environmental decline, looming energy crises, nuclear proliferation, social/political upheaval, erosion of civil rights, on and on. There are a hundred political candidates, charities, religious organization etc each with their own agenda, that are clamoring for your money, hoping to make a difference. Now, from the periodic surveys on our collective political stance, we all typically are outside the mainstream of exisitng politics or simply don't give a shit about political solutions. The remainder of us are cancelling out each others votes. If you ask me, political solutions are off the table. No governemnt is going to get us out of the various catastophes we are throwing ourselves at with what appears to be collective suicidal intent. Daniel Pinchbeck referred to our current collective course as a "willed cataclysm forcing an accelerated evolution of human consciousness' I hope this is the case because the alternatives are just too depressing to contemplate. In any event, in looking at the state of the world and thinking about what I can do to make things better for my children, there are very few areas that I feel are worth my time, effort and attention at this point. And of those, the one that I feel holds the most promise is psychedelics. Terence McKenna believed, and I agree, that if we are going to somehow turn things around, we are going to have to change our collective minds practically on a dime. And in his (and my) experience, the only way that we are going to be able to do that is through psychedelics. I consider growing, manufacturing and taking psychedelics to be not merely an issue of civil rights and personal freedom, but an act of civil disobedience. The mind, once freed, can never be chained again. Looking around it is not hard to see that the chains that are binding us are the lies that are blinding us. Blinding us from our true nature, from our own potential, from the freedom inherent in or minds and in our bodies. The ever present consumerist propaganda that tells us what is normal, what dreams are acceptable, what to fear, what to hate; these are the forces that are driving us over a cliff of mass extinction, this is the creeping fascist mind control cult that seeks the perpetuation of its own favored status above all things, even to the death of the planet. Our best defense against these forces is not the ballot box - that may have worked in ancient Athens at the birth of democracy, but the iron fist of constant psychological manipulation is too entrenched now. Neither is it armed resistence, not until every man woman and child has their own nuclear arsenal. No, our salvation lies, if at all, in the emancipation of our minds from the death cult of consensus reality. And in this regard, psychedelics are our greatest ally and, to my mind, the only tool we have at our disposal that has even an outside chance of turning the tide in time to make a difference. The propogation of psychedelics and the psychedelic experience is our most effective resistence. And that is facillitated by the spread of information. That is the role of Mycotopia. If you think the world needs a kick in the ass, if you have thought about giving money to an organization or cause that provides hope for a better future, support Mycotopia. Many who come here may be driven by idle curiosity or the search simply for kicks. But through the information collected and dispensed here, lives are changed. One by one by one. And that is about the best we can hope for.

every site gets attacked from time to time, even the government itself. ![]() but while we have shut down briefly because of attacks we've never been owned [yet]. we make every upgrade as soon as released, we host on multiple servers and we keep a close eye too. about as safe as the internet gets. |

Firstly, you dug up a 5+ month old thread. Secondly, all websites are vulnerable to being hacked. Number 3, all of our personal info is safe due to the procedures H3 put in place to ensure it. I forget what procedures they are because I lack memory at times, but I remember them being safe.

Ahhh Oibchip, I didnt take the time to realize that this thread was 5 months old. Is that Bad that I brought it up? well at least if others had some of the same questions.. your answers are now fair game for all to consider. I know that really there is no serious personal info here. Not like I am managing my personal bank account through the site... What I really meant was Email Address, passwords, and Ip Addresses. Not a big danger by any means but still feels good to know they are kept safe ya know. |

![]() | please consider yourselves civil rights activists. we are a movement and like any movement people within them disagree from time to time. some of the "discussions" around here can get pretty heated if you haven't noticed but at the end of the day we all remain friends and co-laborers and all moving toward the goal of individual liberty and happiness. this site is a great example of what can be accomplished by focusing on similarities rather than differences. if the DEA is looking at this site, and i hope they are they will not see a group of stereotypical drug users. (yes i said it) they would see a group of hobbyists that encourage one another to behave in a responsible manner and to further the cause of good in our areas of influence. i am proud to be a member here and it behooves me and you to lend more than our spiritual and intellectual support to this endeavor. this is an endeavor. an endeavor we are all undertaking together. if one of us goes down because of this site after some neo-con law change we will all go down. support our sponsors and donate whatever you can to mycotopia. we might not have another chance at this. we are living in a crucial time and our simply existing raises the kind of questions we want raised. mycotopia, the education and comradery found there are worth shelling out a few bucks for. thats my two cents and i'm too opinionated to give a damn what you think lol. |
