The rain came and washed away the sun...then the mushrooms came and opened up a whole new world for me in my front yard. I have a friend who is a Mycologist, (hope that is a proper spelling and term for you guys) We make soap and sell Shea butter at our summer festivals in the North East, well we gave our bud some shea butter, and in return he sent us some Mitakie's he had gathered, they were amazing. Now I walk the woods and photograph Mushrooms, as I start to get to know them I try to open up an active relationship with my little friends on a personal level...they call me, there is no doubt they will now teach me. This forum is just what I needed to help me grow in the field of edible and non edible mushrooms, before I start to even think about adding them to my diet. I soon will have Gary's field manual and look forward to some real good eating in the future. As I progress on this site I will be happy to share some of my digital discoveries with the forum. Also I have some research questions I would like to discuss with you guys concerning the effects of Visible light modification, when in an augmented state of awareness. First off I'd like to let you all know I got my PHD back in 1991. Most people seem really impressed until they ask what I got it in. In case your wondering I got a PHD in partying. It was a hard year in a half but I really feel alot smarter now. I've been interested in mushrooms ever since I went morel hunting with my father as a boy. Then I got Audobon's Mushroom field guide and Mushrooms Demystified then I was hooked. I now have a small hobby farm where I am growing several different species from red oak logs, mainly Shitake. I have approximately 80 logs now and usually make about 20 more each spring. I'm working on starting to grow indoors off of wood chip/enriched sawdust blocks. A place in my town asked me to supply them so thats my current project. I recently purchased a wood chipper after being totally awestruck by Paul Stamets book "Mycelium Running". So my current leisure project is mycelium running and creating an edible forest garden in my back yard. My 10 and 12 year old boys are my helpers and they love it.

The people are unique, just as the site is. I have come and gone and come back again and was kicked off the first time i joined because of a newbe stupid post. But hippie for some reason gave me a second chance with a new name. Once again, why wouldn't anyone join ? I love that there is so many walks of life here. Not just stoner druggy freaks like me ! vast is the knowledge that resides within the walls of mycotopia. Therefore vast is my knowledge ! Thank you, each and everyone of you all !

I can't believe that after 10+ years lurking at entheogen sites like erowid, that I never came across topia until about 30 days ago. It reflects poorly on my mastery of the web lol. But damn, once I found it how could I not join.... the best all around site dealing with my passions.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've been working with rye berries for about 18 months now. Was surfing one day and "accidentally" found this wonderful place(or it found me, I don't know). Prior to this, all I knew was gleaned from the McKenna brothers book and ALOT of "common sense" and trial-and-error. Looks like it's time to round out my education and see what vermiculite is all about.I joined to learn and grow. |

First I wanted free spores, but I already ordered some from the ·fsre·. Then I stayed and read a little bit and enjoyed it. FOAF started making questions and I joined just to figure out a little details, then FOAF drowned the last little plant and I stayed. If ·fsre· manages to get the mail from here, or if I'm lucky enough to win some spores in the raffle, I might become a mycohobbiist. And since I love sharing, might become a constant donator. |

![]() ![]() | Why did i join Mycotopia? Because of Hippy3, my hero, who DID become a legend after all...and because of the knowledge base here. I need to get back into shrooming and i am especially interested in the cost effectiveness/per dose, of various legal plants containing SPICE. Dealer free in a legal state...

I joined up in here because one day I was doing some research and stumbled upon this gold mine of information. . . The more I read; the more I wanted to become a part of this place. I have only been here a month and have already messed up once, (which is easy to do if you don't familiarize yourself with all the rules and regs) but I am learning. I tend to ramble and talk in circles sometimes, but I am confident that from time to time I will have some decent info to contribute. I enjoy entheogens and most certainly enjoy being here,,, So a big THANK YOU is in order to Hip and all the Mods that keep this place up and breathing!! Kudos! ![]() ![]() |

Hello fellow shroom-lovers, I joined because I want to grow shiitake at home (this is one of my current projects, besides trying to grow a container garden / orchard and raising quails, worm composting etc everything in an apartment or on the balcony - Means I explore urban selfsufficiancy (sp?) possibilities... as easy as possible too... Please excuse my english, it is not my native language, Greetings from Berlin, Germany or Grüße aus Berlin ! |

![]() | I joined because I want to get insight on everything that is discussed on this forum. I want to have a place to start my journey and this seems like the right place. I want to grow, nurture and harvest my own and know the only foreign chemical loaded into it is love . Everyone here also seems really cool and very helpful. My account has finally been registered/verified, whatever takes two days after initially signing up, and I'm ready to love this place .-Jetboy

![]() | The coolest site-Period
Many years ago,I stumbled apon a HighTimes mag.I found an ad about growing mushrooms from brf, vermiculite, water and small aquarium. Well the mag was a foaf's,so I borrowed the page.I knew I would do more with the info anyway.I ordered the P.F. tek book. Then, lucked up and got access to the internet. That was the first time I seen Hippie3's post about growing in the jars.Long story short,I learned how to grow and became addicted. But I lost internet access and years went by before I got it again.I tried to find the P.F. site, but it said it was no longer going. So I stated searching for another site and found this one. This Is the only site I go to about mushrooms.I became a member to learn everthing I can while it's still going.Hopefully it will be going on for decades to come. Embrace. |

I'm a Moderator on a local African website and a few members on the local site are also members here. They suggested I join as it was the best mushroom/entheo site there is. So far I have been super impressed with the wealth of Info available here. ![]() I have been growing Cubs and oysters for six or so years now. I had no internet access back then so i spent countless hours in Public Library reading up on my fav subject. Access to Mycotopia all those years ago would have made my life a lot easier. Now all i need is Market privs to make Mycotopia super ![]() ~UBUNTU for the world~

Well i frequent the forums at shroomery and grass city, and i am constantly researching everything i possibly can on erowid. I just think it's about time i found a community to get involved with. I am just starting my experimentation in home synthesized psychedelics and it would be nice to have others to consult with. I'm no stranger to psychedelics, and sometimes overdoing it with thee mushies... that being said, i am trying every method known to man in the consumption of morning glories, and that's why i'm here. lets get invisible! |

Because this Fungi Forum is the Friendliest Fungi Forum on the Freaking Net. Joined a couple others, but apparently mostly children roam/post on them and feel they need to flame you because you're not an Ol' Timer and don't have 1000's of posts. *end rant* |

I just joined today - I wonder if my answer is going to change in a month's time, or perhaps even a year. I simply must learn more about mycology! I think that mushrooms and plants in general have great potential for so many different things; I'd like to learn about this in some depth. I suppose though just on a surface level, I am fascinated with the psychoactive effects of some mushrooms and the way this affects our relationship with ourselves. I'm currently studying pharmacy, and I'm doing so for a reason; I'm absolutely fascinated with chemistry and its impact on our lives. Maybe in the future I'll be able to contribute meaningfully to this board. Anyhow, so glad to join, and am looking forward to many rewarding sessions wallowing in knowledge and advice. I joined a few years back because of the nature of this site. Members here seem to be very knowledgeable and if anyone would be able to help me out along the way would definitely be here.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I found Mycotopia while tracking down the original author of the Bleach Mist/Dunk Tek (Thanx Hippie3, Trich no longer opts to reside in my FC). I stuck around after seeing how helpful, open minded and peaceful the community is.

i joined up to see the pix, but i would have joined up in the long run any way. i recently took an interest in growing edibles. i am a homesteader, growing food for my self and family and selling some of the surplus. over the summer i discovered truly fresh mushrooms and many new varieties. with the end of summer i lost my source as he only grows during the summer farmers market season. so at the last market i bought an oyster kit for the house and a morel garden kit to get started with high hopes for next year. the oyster kit was fully colonized and we babied it waiting for fruits. here in Colorado the humidity seams non-existent and we ended up having to work very hard to keep it humid enough but with the introduction of a room sized humidifier we got our first cluster and since i know the single kit wont sustain us thru the winter i decided to find out how to grow more from scratch. so after many a late night scouring the web it seamed this was the place to learn, and like i said i wanted to see the pix so i signed up. the site is so in depth i am having a hard time finding just what i want, though i figure it is probably located here already. i am working on formulating my first set of question to get me strted down the right path. please bare with my newbiness. as i learn i will gladly share my limited knowledge. and thanks Hippie3 for the warm welcome. i just know figured out how to get pm's and post. looks like i got a lot of learnng in front of me |

what all do you grow on your homestead, aside from the mushrooms. i currently have pigs for meat, chickens for meat n eggs, goats for meat n milk, and about 2.5acres of dry land crops. i plan to add a permaculture orchard, apple centered in the spring. starting with 10-12 trees. i live at 8000ft in the central colorado rockies. not much of a growing season up here |
