What brought me here: I decided I wanted to grow my own shrooms instead of the sketchy hunt so I needed information and found the shroomery first but quickly realized it was full of kids so I went looking again and found **************************************** but people are a little preachy there so I went looking one more time and found mycotopia |

it was way back in my experimental college days.. i really wanted to try these magic mushrooms that people were raving about.. but for $50 an 1/8th (the going rate at the time). i said fuck that.. and decided to grow my own. so i started researching.. first over at overgrow i posted a few questions. one of their members, marvin, told me about this place. so i came over here, then knowticed that i got a free syringe from captian max for being a member here (which was great b/c that was who i was gonna have to order spores from due to my location at the time), and that was pretty much the last sign i needed.. i was home ![]() lost

There are many very good websites than can adequatly teach you how to grow shrooms. They all have some very good cultivators and some really cool people. But when I found 'Topia, it didn't take long to know it was the site for me. I call it "The Spirit of Topia". It's the spirit of Topia that keeps me here. It reminds me of the old days when I first experienced the 'hippy ethic" if you will. Caring, sharing, helping, a positive vibe. Everyone knows that a newb who doesn't have sucess at cultivating, early in their quest, often just quits trying. The people at Topia were friendly, helpful and just plain fucking cool. They welcomed and encouraged me and pretty much assured sucess in cultivation. There was no flaming, no rudness ...just a bunch of cool peeps going out of their way to help a newb. It's the spirit of all the like minded people at Topia that makes me come back everyday. The Spirit of Topia! |

I was linked here from the shroomery I believe, when I was reading up on the invitro pf tek. I started reading through the vaults and the fungi forum and realized this place was easier to navigate and the vibe was more relaxed than the shroomery, like a nice gathering compared to a wild party, and I felt the latter to be more conducive to learning and sharing information and ideas. The guy who introduced me to the hobby agreed that topia was the best site for info. Eventually I needed to ask a question and joined and haven't been able to leave the community yet, even when I didn't grow for a long time. As far as images go, I cannot see the pictures when I am not signed in now, but I'm not sure if it was that way when I joined. I don't think that it had any bearing on my decision to join - I would likely remember if it had and it probably would have. So maybe keeping it that way will encourage lurkers to join.

I think a more important question is why did you stick with Topia. The people are great. Topia is run with Learning being its number one priority. Low tolerance for bullshit or assholes as they detract from learning, which after all is the reason we all joined to begin with, learning. The other reason to hang around is Topia gives you the forums to share your knowledge with others. I dig teaching, as many here do.

Why I joined here is .. the adult atmosphere, Hip3 being straight up with everybody old times along with newbs. Learning this hobby for many months from alot of different web sites that had info... but this has the best ppl and info on the web so you can learn. After lurking and reading alot that is offered here ..I knew that I found what I was looking for. I'm a older man in mid 40s that has done alot of different goodies.. ie tripping smoking and others that I wont mention now since the 70s. You all have my vote for the best place to learn about the hobby. Thank you all for the great info and way you all treat everyone that comes on this board. Thats why I joined Mycrotopia .

Yeah. It may not be the original reason for my coming here, but the maturity level of this board is what kept me here. Those "kiddie" boards annoy the crap out of me.

My friends old spore vendor raised prices so I was trying to find her a new one googling. I couldn't trust any of them without a positive referral so I thought "Hey, maybe people on the board could tell me". I stayed after looking in the archives and finding all sorts of innovative stuff. Was a breath of fresh air.

i would do the same here. and will not allow the forums here to be used to bash the shroomery with such an unfounded accusation. criticize them for their bad policies is one thing, but tossing around BS about the DEA is going way too far just because some mod pissed you off. the shroomery is not any front for the DEA, of that i am pretty damn certain. so unless you have PROOF of the contrary hold your tongue from further wagging. btw proof is not 'some dude told me so'.

I second that, I also stumbled upon it and once I started reading I just couldn't stop. I really couldn't. When I try and check my e-mail I go to type in hotmail and press enter, and mycotopia pops up haha. I can't stop coming back.

A buddy some years ago ordered a shroom kit a while back that consisted of a bag of rye, a syringe, and a clear tub. It was so cool seeing them grow. That guy let me give him about 4 bucks for two grams or so, heh heh, and that was my first trip. It was great fun, had some of the best conversation of my life that night--very memorable. Then, the next year, I decided to grow, because mushies were so hard to find. My searches resulted in PFs web site, then erowid, then lycaeum, then here. I didn't need to look any further Very satisfied member, if sometimes lurking, since '03. I was ReDHeadedFicus, Superunborn, and AngryOrangeCat, for any that might remember.I'm so happy to be here and active again. My personality is far more conducive to this hobby now and things are going well. ![]() ![]() ![]() Long live Mycotopia! |

Well someone on the shroomery sent me a computer virus, sent lots of us it. Then he got banned and kept getting on on puppets and i called him a fag and that he had no right to send me a computer virus and crash my computer. Then I was banned. Then I got on a puppet to complain and everyone called me a fag and I was like wow why arnt these people getting banned they were flammeing me hard. And that is why the shroomery is pulling some kind of conspiracy at me. I even sent yathan and someone ells a message.

I dont really know why I joined topia at the first place. My best friend once told me , out of nowhere, "why dont you study mushroom a little bit?" so I looked online, found that place, found so much informations and nice people. It led me to meeting tons of nice people, made some really good friends and lots of nice travels around the us and canada. I was able to meet people and see lot of thing I wouldnt have seen if it wasnt for mycotopia. I learned so much interesting things. and it changed myself completely. its funny how a little phrase, that someone said, led to all that. life is great |

Hi all! I just joined today, I think I found this site through some random googling. Anyway, I'm here mainly to learn, all this mycology stuff looks pretty interesting to me. Previously I thought that it was extremely difficult to cultivate your own shrooms, but now I see that it's not that bad. I hope to learn a lot here and maybe one day I can help others as well.

I came here, like many others, from the shroomery. I checked the topia out for a month or so, decided I liked it better, and never left. I like the atomosphere here, and that I can post my grow logs w/out restrictions on the amount of pics I post. I love the pics

I joined to learn how to grow mushrooms. I stayed because I really enjoy the community and have found a lot like-minded folks here. I believe the psychadelic experience is something that can change the world for the better and this place is a big part of keeping it alive. Quote:

The main reason I Joined Topia was, to learn the Craft, not to mention that Topia felt comfortable like a big old recliner that you just melt into when you get home from work. Like I stated in the title it had been over 3 years since I Tripped. And not only did I miss it you might say I needed it. Like many people I am compulsive/obsessive with Bi/Polar tendencies . And when I dose it seems to cancel out the Bi/Polarness (yea I know thats not a word), for months at a time. The amount of knowledge here at topia has to be a 13 on the 10 scale. Also the way the knowledge is shared and presented is most excellent, nobody talks down to you, no question is too stupid (Trust Me On This Point lol), and most of the time if not always the information is explained on a level that a newbie can understand and an oldtimer can learn from. Since I have been here I have got back to my love of science and Lab Experiments, something I have not done in years, OK make that decades. I have created a small lab in my new house, bought a presure cooker (E-Bay $7.00 + shipping), gathered other misc equipment from work, bought assorted masion jars, a few syringes (The Good Spore)(and more on the Way), Created Incubators, Containment units, Started a Compost pile in the back yard with all the failures (Which are getting fewer and fewer: BTW), also I have located many good companies/&/individuals to get supplies from. Will list some in the future when I post some of my experiments, have not been able to get a digital camera and with out pictures grow logs are just not as interesting. Well I digress. To sum it up Topia feels like home. WECOME HOME !!! |

i used the stumbleupon feature for the firefox browser one night....typed in the word mushrooms and eventually this site popped up. I am a member at a ton of other mushroom websites including the shroomery, but like many here find that place abusive, suspect and quite frankly a little hostile. anyway...this sites homepage popped up and i put it in my favorites for later. i eventualy came back and started reading....found some interesting stuff...saw that theres a sense of humor and a friendly atmosphere and decided to stay. I also saw the BNL thread a couple days ago and was like "RELEVANCE AT LAST!!!" beautiful women and mushrooms....mixed. it was as if this place was created expressly for me. Seriously though...great site...glad i found it.

![]() | let me guess mike, this all happened in either the pub, or OTD forums. Just so you know, that bullshit/behavior/mentality of people from those types of forums isn't tolerated here. You may be better off just creating a new account and staying there. Now back to your regularly scheduled topic.
