I joined up because I wanted to learn how to grow that great fungus that I fell in love with ages ago and I didn't like the alternatives to mycotopia. I like this place so much because there is a wealth of information here that can be gained quickly, rather than sorting through thousands of posts at some of the lesser mycological sites.

i joined mycotopia because i was about to buy a mycodome long ago and read a post about it in the archives.... i kept reading around the site and figured out i didnt need a stinkin mycodome! i became a vip because i really respect the environment and willingess to help each other out here. i really look forward to being able to contribute some stuff to topia. the more everyone does to tweak/create better teks to grow the fungus and then sharing that info and helping the people having trouble makes mycotopia freakin awesome

I joined because I had grown several Kits that I would buy every summer from a FOAF, not knowing anything about Mycology. My last kit was failing fast and was looking for information on the net. I googled magic mushrooms and two places came up front, the Shroomery and Mycotopia. Unfortunately I went to the Shroomery first and found that is was not my cup of tea for the same reasons others do not like the place. Then I came here and found all the information anyone could ever want plus more, so I joined. I started posting my questions and concerns and was met with great friendliness and knowledge. I have come to call this my second home because when I'm home I'm here. I have learned so much and have met some really cool folk. Because of what I have learned I am now able to give back knowledge and insight as well as other knowledge (Chemistry, Physics, and other sciences). Thank You Hippie3 and everyone else that has made this a great place to hang. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I joined at first to see all the pictures. Then I saw how much knowledge there is here. I find I am like a sponge taking it all in. I hope to learn as much as humanly possible and then share my knowledge, successes, and failures and contribute new ideas. I grew hydro for 10 years pretty much mastering that. At first all of the knowledge was overwhelming, but I look back at it now and it is simple. I want that to be the same for shrooms. I agree this is like a free college course except a fun course not a requisite. I like to surf and play raquetball etc... and get great excercise that way without it even seeming like I was "working out", same thing here, I learn and love it and it doesn't even seem like work or homework. This is my new hobby and I am addicted to Mycotopia. The people here really are extremely friendly and most helpful. ![]() ![]() |

Wow! Thanks, all, for the amazing posts. You can be awfully honest without giving away anything incriminating...if ya got a brain. If I only had a brain... Seriously, great responses. Really cool to realize that new folks just coming in the door feel the same way I did 2 years ago when I first stepped through. Amazing place ya got here, Hip.

I found Mycotopia at the beginning of a journey that has been in the making for 17 years. Due to life's circumstances I took a 17 year hiatus from psychedlics and as time goes on questions continue to mount so I found myself wandering back to experiences I had many years ago during those inner journeys of the mind. Twenty years ago I was naive and frankly not prepared to assimilate the knowledge presented to me. However, I have found myself reflecting on these experiences a great deal and began to study entheogens in-depth with the objective of setting out on a conscious journey to explore the cluttered confines of my soul. I am to old to depend on others for this experience so the only solution was to produce my own magic so to speak. At some point I found myself struggling between Mycotopia and Shroomery and came to the conclusion that Mycotopia was more down to earth and personalized. Thus my selection of forums was evident and I have since found myself learning immensely about this wonderful world of fungi. There are no words to be found that can properly explain the gratitude I feel towards all of you who are here everyday giving a helping hand. To all of you old pros, especially Hippie3 and BuckarooBanzai, my sincerest thanks and appreciation. In fact I am so delighted I have decided to contribute to the site to ensure its future survival and service to the world of mycology. Thanks a million!

I found Topia about 6 months ago, I was looking around for knowledge about mycology and trytamines. Most of my questions are answered here, plus all the jewels I find that I wasn't even looking for, regularily. What a fantastic place! Peace and Respect Mycotopia ![]() |

I had posted my reply from the first page, not noticing how long this thread wuz I felt that i had to add that as being older as well, in finding Topia, this was for me a rekindling of the affair with the shroom. Finding some growing last autumn is actually the spark that set me off (first time ever). I always favoured them over anything else, they just been scarce for a few years. Anyway, I love ethnobotanicals, and this site covers the best ones with excellency |

I needed some information on a type of shroom I was about to buy but had never heard of before. So I posted my question into a random german forum where I encountered the utmost unpleasant people. So I wrote a mail to an australian friend of mine and he directed me here. My question was promptly answered and I immediatlely liked the vibe this place has. There's no better place to pass an hour or two and simply read.... I've only been here for a few months but I have a feeling I'll be around a little longer ![]() ![]() ![]() mycotopia rules!!!!!!!!!!! |

Because shroomery forums suck ;]. And I like IPB based forums. Besides I liked that everyone up here has been so friendly unlike @ shroomery, I think... It's one of my favorite sites and I never close it in Opera .

In my high school days, I came in contact with LSD. Only got to try it two times. Now, it is not to be found. Plus, you have to deal with other people to obtain it. It was such a revelatory experience, that I wanted to find something similar. I had heard of magic mushrooms and that they had a similar effect, so I started researching. Once I stumbled upon this site, the community made me feel immediately welcome. At first, it was merely a place to get info, but I am just beginning to feel a connection with some of you. This is a great community of people. There are some very interesting discussions that take place here. Mycotopia is the first and only web forum that I have ever been an "active" member of. With mushrooms, one can have a perpetual supply of a very interesting-- no-- an awe inspiring substance at very low cost and in the privacy of one's own home. (It can be such a stealthy operation too) This destroys the risky business of purchasing an ILLEGAL DRUG on the streets. DISCLAIMER: I do not grow ILLEGAL DRUGS in my home as it is a risky endeavor in our current 'system' of laws, no matter how private it is. Last edited by jermy; 04-28-08 at 23:27. Reason: addition |

I enjoy all types of plants and animals and learning about how things work. I like to build things like ponds and greenhouses, small and large. Right now we are moving and I will be starting a pond to grow fish to eat, and building a garden and maybe a greenhouse someday. I have a pond here with several large fish that were all less than 3 inches long when I got them. Most are koi, one is a channel catfish that is now about two feet long. Also a couple common gold fish that survived from times that I had more aggressive fish in there. Anyway, I hope to learn all about a way of cultivating life that is new to me, and the people here seem pretty easy going, alot of online communities I have experienced in the past were really uptight.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I joined to become a Wizard!
When I was a much younger man, a kind soul put some magic in my hand, to the mouth, to the head. Amazing! I saw things previously unseen. It was like a whole new, better, brighter, kinder (and MUCH funnier!) paralell universe existed right here...and I was shown the way in. That was magical, and who else could I aspire to be, but a Wizard...to create my own magic.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have to say this is a very good thread!!! I just had the same question on my mind the other day. The reason for me joining Mycotopia, a great deal of the credit goes to irishlion.. I never knew much about the variety of shrooms out there, and other natural herbs of the earth, etc. Of course, My first experience with shrooms was with him as my guide and soulmate . I admit I was afraid and leary of them.He showed me a whole new world full of joy, peace, carefree, and loving. It created an increditable bond and connect between us that it would take me forever to post... So, One day, I noticed he was looking up information on mushrooms and he also, came across the Shroomery which didn't keep his interest knowing that he is knowledgeable about the Shrooms, grows, and etc... He is bit of an experimentalist himself not to mention an extremest and persistent when he happened upon this site. I noticed and started reading the post which caught my interest on learning to grow shrooms, learning more on cactus, mesculine, peyote, and other such natural drugs . So, I had to join to absorb more information on each topic, the maturity of the people caught my interest to all the knowledge everyone has locked inside them, start a hobby since I can't work right now or find a job in this town. The people on this site has gave me the warmest welcome I love this community!!! and most of all I do enjoy lending a helping hand when and if I can. Hippie3 thanks for letting me join your site!! It rocks and I'm planning on staying as long as it's running...![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
