Like TCO said, this is a lonely hobby. SWIM's (ha!) friends are mostly clueless about the science and more complex points of what goes (or doesn't) on around here. It really is beautiful to be able to talk shop and learn from such a diverse group of people all on the same mission. Communication seeds advancement in our endeavors. I joined this forum because it is full of INTELLIGENT members. You guys all have (mostly) REAL things to say and avoid the general ass-hattery that goes around on other boards.

I'm just gonna go with the advice of saying hello, and indroduce myself. I joined to learn more about extraction of DMT, and I think I've now read every tek out there. Interesting indeed. Still got a few basic questions that I haven't got answered though, but I guess I'll save that for another thread. Gotta say I love the attitude on this forum, cosy as hell ![]() See you guys in the mist... |

I don't in any way want to perpetuate the rivalry but I joined here after a horrible reception at a competing site. They hated me, they hated you. Seemed a good fit. I must say I'm loving mycotopia and I am so glad I have made friends here. Thanks again. |

I joined when compiling research about mushrooms after the British Government decided to make them illegal (2004/5). One then decided one had to start growing my own after mushroom fans failed in our campaign to keep them legal. I still think prohibition was an illogical move. One now grows his own. |

A couple years ago I was interested in growing some shrooms. I ordered some stuff on Ebay and was surfing around the web trying to do a little research. I stumbled across Mycotopia and asked a couple newby questions. I felt very welcome and people were very polite despite my dumbass questions. Two and a half years later I am still here, still learning and very happy I found this place. I am still amazed at the amount of knowlege one can aquire by hanging out here.

Greetings Mycotopians! I'm an old 60s guy, dropped acid in 1968 as my initiation to tripping. Years later I found myself living in Florida where cobensis grows wild. Had my second round of tripping then. Now I'm up in cold country and so growing my own is the only option. So I want to learn to grow shrooms and this seems like the place. Also I have several old sporeprints from McKenna's Amazonian strain (Syzygy). They may not be viable but I have stored them in the refer all this time. Once my skills are sufficient, I'll give those a try. Peace, Dee |

I don't remember why, but I'm glad I did.

i was recently introduced to the hobby, and all i have been able to do is soak up the info like a sponge (which just occured to me is just like an other worldly fungus type). Very interesting stuff. Peace to the community.

You should eat those. I can see they are not death caps, no reason to throw them away. The Agaricus you have is probably Agaricus cupreo-brunneus.

I am a newbie to mycroculture. I just find it a fascination that is too hard to resist. I read on this and other forums of PPL's focus on growing. Its something that I see as both enjoyable and helpful to my inner health. Like the C. S. Lewis statement repeated in the Jefferson Airplane song, "Feed Your Head". I have to both feed my head and heal my soul. I find shrooms a very useful tool, or more closely, a useful "Clandesitine Self Medication", as has been described elsewhere. I hope to learn much from the experts here, on both the growing and appropriate uses of my chosen meds. Mother Nature has never given us things that we cannot use, only useful ones, if we so chose. And I chose. Peace Cult

I became very intrigued when I came across several beautiful orchid plants one afternoon a few years back. I started growing different species of orchid and built a small green house of sorts. The growing process of plant life had me hooked. Making the most healthy and abundant specimens was always a goal. I was exposed to the mushroom world now and again through some friends and I knew this was my next step. So when I began researching some "how to" knowledge on the internet I came across mycotopia. I do love the atmosphere here and the knowledge is abundant. I love learning and observing things from the experiences of others on this forum. It is my hope to become superior in different forms of mushroom cultivation, then perhaps I may teach those who come here after me. just as the people who were here before I. Thanks to the community. Much love ![]()

I'm a little freaked by amanitas, too, but I found some locally growing muscaria and did try some a couple of months ago. I didn't eat much, just a nice slice of very pretty cap...fresh stuff (maybe few grams) sauteed (sp?) in butter. It was delicious and I did have a mild sensation of flying. It was cool. No adverse gastro-intenstinal side effects. OMG that reminds me; I had some wild boletus mushrooms that were delicious fixed the same way but they gave me the worst ...uh... let's just say I had to spend a bunch of the next day in the bathroom!

So many reasons..BNL are cool, shroom info is cool, peeps are cool..just a very cool site. I'm an amateur wild mushroom hunter in the SF bay area and don't yet personally know anyone else to go hunting with or compare notes with. I've seen very good stuff posted here and I have added Ps. cyanfransiscosa (sp?) to my hunt. I saw some pix of them a couple of days ago on here and will have to look them up again and maybe drop a line to the author. ..Very cool; growing on wood chips..waiting for some rain.. |

I joined this wonderful website because there seems to be more of an active community here (I came from shr**mery, lol). and you people are very considerate and generous. i also would like to learn some gardening techniques for various psychoactive plants, and maybe this site will help me ease off the mycoporn and into some horticulture... |

Wandered my way over here to double the fun between the Shr-my and here. I've seen a few fellow Shroomites around here...but I've seen alot of good feeling folks in here too. Its definitely got a different energy around here, much more open for conversation and better vibes...'instead alot of arrogance. (not to say arrogance doesn't live everywhere) but hell...why not join a second club. Always good for more flavour =D Can't wait to jump into the pool with you guys. |

I joined because I was searching for some old posts from overgrow and this is where my search let me, did find what I was looking for (BOG's soil recipe) and I am always trying to learn more about what is my one passion in life - to grow the best damn buds that I can |

I joined to see some pics after reading some informative posts while searching for answers, but have many questions to hope have answered by the "pros" directly during my first shroom growing and learning experience. I'm into it and am even thinking of growing some regular edibles since I've learned so much about mushrooms already and their health benefits. It is definately a hobby I feel I'll get into! Go Shrooms! |

if knowledge is power then mycotopia is a psycadelic power house i stumbled across it very much by mistake but knew straight away that i was too spend many hours here reading and learning. my religion is a strange one, i believe that mother nature is our god and that she is in each and all of us from the whale to the ameoba,so we too are gods. for me this is a place where i can read and learn of others experience in the presence of mother nature. not many places i have found contain as much valuable information a i found here. long live mycotopia and the peace therein. A1 site all day long. jim

![]() | Hello from me!
Hello all, I've just joined! Foaf's mainly into DMT and mescaline. He hasn't eaten psilocybin in 9 years (cubensis and Thai), but has decided to learn more about shrooms after trying a.muscaria recently. Also I wouldn't mind learning where to go to meet girls who enjoy posting artistic pictures of themselves covered in mushrooms haha! ----------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Hippie3; 02-03-09 at 10:10. |
