board icons?

the apple tree and flower thing is cute n all, i do remember some members making comments about those various icons. I was hoping maybe I could give some hints via photoshop skills.

VB uses png based images (at least from what i've read). png images can contain whats called an 'alpha chanell' allowing various levels of transparencies,
i.e. it will look good no matter what color its on.

Anyway, take a look, tell me what you think, maybe a mod will find it handy

i think its great that people are collaborating here. a team effort will always come out better than just one guy on his own. way to go sin, its a great idea, and your very talented. thanks for helping zen out on this, and helping the whole board look better with its new makeover.

so far, im impressed out of my mind with this site. the old site feels like a B rated film compared to this site. Although in all honesty, lurking on her for so long, i kind of miss the lil lady. BUT im getting over it pretty quickly.

He didn't make all the icons... That's why I posted the PSD of the originals. This way he'll be able to make one for everything and use the origianl high quality images to do it.

i changed the flamies a lil bit to glow around the mushroom rather than fill up the back.

Looks good. I think the "new" needs to be a little bigger and I kinda liked the flames like you had them before... BUT since these are png and can have transparency...

Why dont you make it look like the mushroom is on fire? Have a little on the side and then flames lapping up off the top?

Ok, made the following modifications to the thread_ set of icons

Changed the flames to look more realistic,
Swapped red & brown color mushrooms, i.e
threads that you have NOT replied to will be bright red
threads that you have replied to will be brown

again, png split into 2 zip files, as the board won't allow zips bigger than 100,000 bytes (97.7KB)

p.s. the preview image below is low quality, the actual pngs look a lot better

ok some people observe that the icons r too big, now allowing enough posts to show.

attached is the same icons 75% and 50% of the original sizes. some of the 50% are a lil hard to read.

Yea, I do too... Unfortunately my monitor does not allow it. My next large computer purchase is going to be a set of Apple 23" Cinema Displays. Screen real estate is of primary concern to graphic artists and developers, of which I'm a member of both categories.

agreed. I would love to get a set of those apple monitors, those r the shizzle. Right now i'm operating on a 22" flatscreen crt by mitsubishi. does said resolution (2048x1536) at an amazing 85Hz.
