vbulletin 3.7.0 Gold just released,
i notified zen
so the ball is finally rolling.
plz remain patient-
this will involve completely re-building the site,
with many new options to implement
and we will also need to import our add-ons
like the SEO program, the glossary system, etc.
we will be hiring professionals for the work
which means we'll also be subject to their timetable.
but the first important obstacle is now gone,
the software is finally ready to be implemented.

Hip: I understand you want to make the site look cooler. Myself being a graphic designer and on-and-off member for several years, I think aesthetics are great and all, but how about improving the functionality of the site? I think the layout could definitely benefit from some changes. This site is fairly confusing as of now; I think a more visual approach is necessary for all aspects of the site, not just the top banter.

The visual hierarchy of the pages should be improved. It's a bit clusterf*cked.

I think the chat is a great and fun resource, but I experience frequent disconnects for some reason. It's decent, but it will definitely need to fit the new theme, right?

I don't know if promoting members would be a good idea, looks like you're starting to put people's posts up on the front page (featured posts I guess?), but I kind of thought it would be cool to have "Mycotopiate of the Month" awards with prizes or something like that. Maybe a "featured profile" sort of thing. Maybe not.

But yes, revamping is something I think everyone should pitch their ideas into-- what all needs to be improved on this site.

Well to me, the clusterfuck effect comes from a bunch of boxes crammed really close together with scarcely noticable divisions and very small titles for the boxes. Titles of pages and sections need to be more visible (bigger/more attention grabbing). That's what gets clustered for me. I can't even tell what I'm looking at sometimes.

Threads get hard to read because they stretch all the way across the screen. I get annoyed when I get to the end of a line of text, then drop down and get confused on where the next line starts. Maybe thats a minor gripe.

I think the navigation is a bit complex too. Websites need to be made with dumb people in mind, like myself. All in all, the layout of the site as of now is just sort of junky and crammed together. Maybe each navigation button can be a Caapi vine or a flaming joint-- hell if I know. Something more visual that fits the whole theme, ya diiig? That's the most description I can muster, and too many words coming from the same mind.

Everyone needs to pitch in some ideas, and maybe come up with some new areas for the site!

it doesn't have to be all of that... he's simply suggesting as long as topia is getting a facelift why stop at a new skin? visually, graphics do add a lot to the site. but they can also streamline the whole site.
anyways, here's to finally seein' the light at the end of the tunnel.

it's not as simple as one might think,
and to reorganize tens of thousands, nay, hundreds of thousands of posts
made piecemeal over a 7 year span
is a task requiring thousands of man-hours, unpaid.

It is a busy market and I dont see it slowing down anytime soon. Another issue that could come in to play is with abundance of customers, designers can pretty much pick and choose what they want and dont want to do. Hopefully if that comes in to play it works out in our favor.
