    Southern Rock

Well, I'm going through another music 'binge' in which I thrust myself into a new genre, and this time its southern rock

I started to get into these three so.rock bands months ago: mofro, hobex, and north mississippi all stars but the interest faded, and now im back

i was wondering if anyone has suggestions for what to listen to
im searching for a mofro similar sound- and after hours of going from band to band the only two i've found to like are tishamingo and park bench trio

    any suggestions are greatly appreciated

When I think of Southern rock I think of Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, .38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Allman Brothers a.k.a the Allman Joys, Tom Petty and stuff like that. I've never heard of Mofro or Hobex? Tell me more about them...

A good band that is hardly mentioned but who appeared in Rolling Stones is The Drive By Truckers. IT takes a little getting use to but they are pretty good for some southern boys....Who can forget about sweet home alabama?

Hey man, thanks for the links. Even at my local venues, and there are alot of good ones where I live, Southern Rock is for the most part dead. And I'm in the south. The last time I heard of a band playing here ,Blackfoot, they canceled because of contract problems. There are plenty of Bluegrass , Blues bands and many other bands that play here so I can't complain.

    All of the above.

These jump to mind as well...

    Widespread Panic
    Govt Mule
    Jerry Joseph / Stockholm Syndrom
Derek Trucks Band ~ Rock Funk Fusion w/Traditional Blues

Dickie Betts/Great Southern and when he was with Allman Bros fall into the Souther Rock genre. Definitely Lynard Skynard & Molly Hatchet. ABB & Govt Mule have more of a blues origin.

I have seen Derek Trucks here and Govt Mule too. Derek was great but the acoustics sucked in the venue. Donna the Buffalo is good too.
