    Hot Spores

    Ok Guys i got my very first spore containers today, The friggen Hottest day of the year '102 They were in my mailbox for around an hour or 1and 1/2 not sure. They were verry warm to the touch and when i came in i put them in the frige. will they be ok maybe or did the heat already kill them?

    Sadly, the only way you'll know is to test the syringe out by using it to inoculate some substrate or liquid culture.

    damn 102 degrees. that sucks. I always worried about getting spores in the hotter months of the year. Guess its time to do some spore exchangin before its too hot.

    Update

    Ok My babies seem to be OK I Have good MYC Growth, after 5 days have some nice growth. now the friggen temps are in th elow 80's and i'm having a hard time keeping temps above 82'. Will that hurt the mycellium?

    Ok Now i'm raelly confused I'm still in incubation of my jars. I thought they were suposed to be between 80-85' Am I wrong? B/c they have been happy at 83' But now they will be in abot 78-82' Most of the week. I'm working on an incubator for them but can't get temp steady.

    If you have a cupboard above the refrigerator check that out, mine stays a constant temp at 85 degrees, the cupboard should stay at a constant temp being that the heat coming off the back of the fridge rises and heats the cupboard, just put your therm in there to check the temp.

    78-82 is fine. Some people say that 85 is a little on the high side. I would try and keep it at 80-82, that's a perfect incubation temperature. I don't think that 85 will really hurt, but don't go above it. Even room temp. people say is fine.
