Question Cubensis Strains: What's the real deal?

I've heard so many different opinions on cubensis potency, strains, effects etc. that I honestly don't know who to beleive. Do different strains produce different effects? Are some strains more potent than others? Are there really "energetic" mushrooms, and "relaxing" mushrooms? Or are they all the same? Just some questions I had floating around in my head..Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Potency varies from mushroom to mushroom. But most cubes are around the same. Each person reacts differently to shrooms. While i may feel energized you may feel relaxed from the exact same flush. There are a lot of variables imo.

Between cubensis strains you may notice a difference in potency but not in effects like "energetic".
    thats all in your mind.

This doesn't apply to different species of Psilocybes, only to different strains of cubes.

I'm fairly new to the hobby, but from what I have a read from some of the veterans who post here, they are all very very similar. Cubes are cubes. But people do have preferences and the spore vendors claim that certain strains have different highs like you said, Some speedy, some more relaxed. From my own experience, I have had both speedy and relaxed trips from the same batch of B+. So, who knows, I just feel there are to many factors that can affect a trip, and you will probably hear different answers from different people. Just my opinion though.

Some of the other variables are

    1) Sensitivity (are you hard headed?)
    2) Prescription medications can affect your trip
    3) When your last trip was
    4) The age of the shrooms
    5) How they are dried and stored

Some people like a certain strain for different reasons. For example, I like Cambodian because it was what i took on my first trip and the visuals were insane. But others may tell you they didn't see a thing or prefer another strain.

I think they only way to know is to test every strain for potency, I'm not sure if this has been done. I'll need to read or maybe another member can shed some light on it.

Are there any cubes known to be more potent than others? I've heard good things about the Ecuador, and PES Hawaiian strains in particular..but I'm not sure if this is true, or all hype? Is there really a difference, or is it all personal preference?

I recently ordered Mazapatec, PES Hawaiian, Nepal, and Ecuador syringes with the idea I was procuring some of the most potent strains available Was I just kidding myself? Well, it should be an interesting grow regardless.

    Thanks for the Replies!!

I've heard that Penis Envy and PE 6 are potent

Strains from thailand such as Koh sumui.

I've also heard good things about Puerto Ricans, Hawaiians, and Cambodians.

Most of what I know I read off of Ralphsers spore page and some of the threads here. There are some obscure ones that I don't hear much about that they claim are potent too.

I have Cambo colonizing now, and I have a syringe of Koh Sumui, PE6, Puerto Rican, PES Hawaiian. I'll let ya know when I try em.

    anomaly

the most palapable variance in potency i've experienced have been less between strains than between flushes within the same strain. why this happens i dunno. but i remember this one flush ... Whooo. Dunno what happened but even on doses of a couple of grams i experienced visuals i'd only previously only read about in casataneda: mountains morphing into human heads and kindly counselling me, cliff faces morphing into easter island like statues and doing truly funky dances, all substances took on the suppleness and elasticity of human flesh and all was welcoming. it was as if the entire surface of the earth became a truly loving mother and enveloped me in sensual fantastica.

I've tried many strains of cubes and noticed no real difference in potency.

If youre looking for a potency eye opener, eat your cubes fresh with ranch dressing. I ate a single 12g chitwan expecting to see an equivalent of 1g dried which it would have dried to. More like 3-4g equivalent. An unexpected fantastic time. I highly recommend trying it.

I ate 10.2 g fresh B+ last week. I figured it would be about 1g dried. I had some pretty good visuals. I had some cev's too, not extremely bright colors or anything, but some cool patterns that were not bright at all, kind of faint. It wasn't terribly strong, but it was nice. The patterns on the rugs (oriental or something) were pretty cool and they were moving. I tried to go to sleep for a few hours and they (the shrooms) wouldn't let me, I even took a tranquilizer.

I have always hated mushrooms. The taste, the consistency. I must say though, I think I am developing a taste for them.

I can sleep pretty well coming off Cubes -It's those darn Panaeolus that keep me up all night..
I have noted some Cube strains give a dirty or less pleasant physical experience.. Topping that list is O. India..
They're all a bit different - so many variables though , hard to pin down..
My latest all around favorite is the new Falbino ...Thanx to TCooooo...

    sleeping?

"I tried to go to sleep for a few hours and they (the shrooms) wouldn't let me" (Lookyhere)

Yeah this is a shroom effect that i can mostly do without. Tried everything. Even tried taking the shrooms early in the morning, spending the day hiking and then taking a tranquiliser before bed and still experienced difficulty getting to sleep. However, a couple of times (twice) i experienced something most extraordinary: the opposite! The shrooms made me sleepy i went to bed and tripped in my sleep. It was so cool, wish i knew what caused it.

Ive got to gel cap the dried ones. Fresh cubes go well with ranch dressing. IMO, the fresh cubes actually taste good.
