![]() | Ibogaine: Rite of Passage Cure for addiction? I have read a great deal on ibogaine, ayahuasca, and shamanism, and I thought this documentry was great. The videos of it on youtube do not have subtitles for the natives and that is one of my favorite parts of the documentry. I recommend finding it elsewhere with the subtitles, but for now... Enjoy!! ![]() http://youtube.com/watch?v=wJkmTKyKvjA

![]() | I think it was This American Life on NPR that did a segment on this guy. They followed him through a detox with one addict, explaining how it went, and talking about his past successes and failures. From what he was saying, this shit is the real deal. But why have a way to cure heroin addiction in a week when the medical community has found ways to make thousand per patient in outpatient programs, some of which have a near 90% first time failure rate? I mean, it wouldn't make any sense if our government supported something that, you know, could really, truly work at a cost of next to nothing. |

![]() | Heres a quick documented part of Ibogaine therapy. Very intriguing stuff. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...HR04T-CA&hl=en

![]() ![]() | Ibogaine is the real deal, and it's interesting that it was banned in the U.S. as long ago as it was; before anyone except a few researchers had even heard of it. Those who had heard of it knew what it could do (bind with opiate receptor sites while acting as a sedative so you withdraw from opiates without withdrawal symptoms) and were probably not pleased that it works so well so cheaply. There are clinics in Mexico that will pick you up near the border and drive you across to the clinic where western-trained doctors monitor people using it to kick whatever they are addicted to, though the best results are clearly with opiates. It's also worked for cocaine, alcohol, and even cigarettes though success rates are a bit lower. Many people come out of the sessions free of all their addictions. There are underground clinics in New York as well, and probably elsewhere. A friend of mine who did it said it was about 36 hours of laying on the floor dreaming about all their real-life memories, and they were able to move them around sort of like re-filing a bunch of files, and it was this visionary component of the experience that really broke their addiction patterns. They 'saw' the sources of their addictive behaviors and fixed them. It's amazing stuff to hear someone talk about, and they said they never got so out of it that they couldn't get up and go to the bathroom and stuff like that. My friend's experience was the most common type reported in the literature I've read. In New York, people helping a friend kick heroin will sometimes handcuff them to a radiator (or something just as sturdy) in their apartment to ride out the worst of the withdrawals, and it really pisses me off to think that almost all of that suffering (often followed by relapses and yet more suffering) was unnecessary. Methadone is just a shorter leash; ibogaine is a cure.

![]() | yeah i had the go round with methadone, the shitty thing about it is that because of all the rules and things and being that the clinic is a business, each day you come in and dose they profit from it. So the motivation it seemed, at least at this clinic, was that they were just trying to give people a way to live their lives without opiates, but the problem soon becomes living without methadone. and thats a bitch. you have to do it for yourself, and it was harder to get off than anything I ever tried. |

![]() | I work right near a methadone clinic. Dank, your 100% right, the success rate of methadone is staggering. "The Juice" as the junkies call it here, is just a cheaper gov't prescribed fix for in-between shooting junk. Lets see some Ibo-rehabs for fuck sakes. ![]()
