![]() ![]() ![]() | Ha..That was my first thought too.Im still trying to think of some alternatives. Here is another picture of a few of the berries.I ran across this patch while out in the woods a few weeks ago.I assumed they was blackberries and really didnt even think they might be black raspberries. After looking through a few pictures on the net i noticed blackberries and black raspberries look very similar. These are a bit small and im thinking that these are black raspberries. Not for certain but leaning that way. |

![]() | Our blackberries won't be ready until the end of July. That's prime picking here. Those look like black raspberries to me also. Very tasty It is raspberry season here now, and blueberries almost ready.I've got to get to making my jam.........mmmmmm I love the berries! The thing I hate the most about picking blackberries, getting scratched to hell by the thorns.

![]() | Nice Eastwood! I picked the last of the raspberries here this weekend. The first of the blackberries are just startin to ripen. Looks like a pretty good yr for berries. Raspberries are more hollow in the center after you pick em. They usually have more a round shape too. Dewberries ripen about the same time as raspberries also, and grow on low trailing bushes usually in shady areas. I have found the berries which grow in the woods or heavily shaded areas will ripen a week or so before the ones in sunny areas. This seems true with all three types. Enjoy |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | We've got a month or two still til berries are ripe out here. I love living in an area that has natural food growing at least part of the year. Blackberry mead is one of my favorites

![]() | mmm mmm good ew! Happy hunting. I took a few nice pics of the black and raspberries to show the difference but the batteries died on my cam before I could load up.As I said raspberries will be hollow and crush very easily. Blackberries have a small indent where they break free from the stem . Enjoy your harvest![]() |

![]() | I did not think about making wine with all those berries that grow like weeds around here. I see them all the time but just never really cared to pick them, except when I get some white lightnin to put them in. I should have known.... Friends of mine pick muscadines and make wine with them. I'm not a wine fan but I love that stuff! I wonder how black raspberries and muscadines mixed would be?

![]() | Of course Merm. Gonna do the Blueberries this weekend Hip I do get my kids to go too, only like Umbrella says, they just eat instead of throw in the bowls They are good for getting up under the taller bushes and really getting in there to pick the ones the birds can't get.East, that made photo made me hungry!

![]() | Had some wild strawberries start throwing up a patch on an old dead stump in my back yard last year. Looks like I might begin to see some decent berries this year, if the weather stays like it's been...not too bad for a wild patch, being as far inland as I am...wild strawberries normally grow much closer to the sea (around here). Who doesn't love the sweet, sharp bite of a good bush berry? Congrats on the find EW, everything is coming into season here as well; the raspberries and blackberries actually aren't finished quite yet but the strawberries are starting to look good...can't wait for blueberries though. It's a back breaking job, but cleaning those little bushes of their blueberries is my favorite late summer activity...besides the smoking session that inevitably goes on BEFORE the picking, of course . Enjoy your berry hunting, all!
