Yes!!! One might guess as much...she was a mycologist, and quite a good and passionate one at that. Thanks for noticing and sharing this BB, I don't feel like such a total (or at least such a lonely) dork now!

I was enjoying some Beatrix Potter google images the other day with my kids. Their nursery's were done in Peter Rabbit (because I didn't go modern and find out the sex of my babies).

My son still has his Peter Rabbit baby blanket with the Amanitas on it

Awesome, I've been conditioned from a very young age to be interested in mycology!

Thank God for Naturalists who have brought the World to our bedtime stories and created wonder rather than fear of the unknown and nature in general.

I've been amazed how much the Aminita Muscaria mushroom shows up in books, cards, blankets, pottery, ornaments ... everywhere basically.

I stumbled upon this video that was left on my hard-drive by a friend. Its about that Aminita imagery, both obvious and hidden in society and delves into what it all means. It gets into some very interesting relms.

If you have time check out this vid:

Well said BM. Bless anyone who has spread inspiration, joy, peace and the general appreciation for the natural world, rather than promoting mindless consumption, self-possessed aggressive behavior and especially fear of the unknown. I think you're right on with this one...the most positive inspirational pushes I've gotten have been from those who dived into the unknown, embraced the mystery and all it has to offer and took their own inspiration from the bottomless nature of all this beauty and diversity, rather than sitting in a corner fearing anything that doesn't resemble what you see in the looking glass (in the everyday looking glass, at least ). Bless anyone who decides to spread understanding and curiosity over fear.

@Hyphae: I've also seen that Pharmacratic Inquisition video, and the rest of the GnosticMedia stuff as well. It's all very interesting, but that was a really cool one. Once you open your eyes just a small crack, you really can begin to see it everywhere...it freaks me out a little. I see it in all sorts of places when I look for it...including many I would have never expected to find it in. I guess this is sort of true of a lot of drugs and more esoteric, alchemical or spiritual ideas, actually. It's funny to think of some of the things we see and read about as children, the double meaning of which we don't actually become hip to until later on in life...layers like and onion, baby. Cool stuff Hyphae, thanks for sharing!
