    Introduction and a Question

So I'm pretty new here. I joined a while back for something else. I recently started my first grow and I was on shroomery and I realized I should look around for other boards and I remembered this one. I figured I should get rid of the "make your first post" thing at the top and say hi.
Anyways, for this first one I decided I'm doing a simple PF tek with frequent fanning and misting and nothing special. My jars and syringe came from earthstongue so they're guaranteed contaminant free (today was the 4th day and I checked up on them and one has an odd black thing that looks like a mold so apparently I'm going to be using that warranty).
If this first one works out I hope to have money to pay for the overhead for the next one that would involve a more hi-tech terrarium and maybe casings and 3 generations of G2G. My question is: Is it possible to make a casing outside? Like, say digging a hole, putting down some vermiculite then some crumbled PF Cake then some top layer and leaving it there? And if so would this only work once or would it flush every year?

PF tek is really the way to go for a beginner (and fruiting invitro IMHO). Check out 'My First Thread' from my profile page. My FOAF had a great first experience.
    Gluk and keep reading.

Welcome! I believe you will find Topia more to your taste.

Earthstongue is hit or miss I am sorry have to say. They have refused refunds in the past for bad syringes, but some do get what they pay for sometimes.

Glad you found us before you invested lots of money in shady vendors. The vendors here are Truly Guaranteed. If they screw anyone they will be gone pretty fast, and besides that; they are damn good folks for the most part.

Anyhow, enjoy the site and if you have any questions or want to show off your grow please feel free.

Greetings and Salutations - welcome to Mycotopia!

Yep, you can certainly do a case outdoors. In fact, you can bury a colonized PF cake about 1/2 inch down in potted plant and get results.

Outdoors is much more forgiving and less likely to contaminate than indoor stuff.

If you are going to do a project outdoors, you might consider adding some form of poo for a bulk substrate. It will be more productive than cakes alone by giving the mycelium more space to grow in to.

It might flush year after year if it doesn't get too cold in your area. Florida, Alabama, Missisippi, Georgia and Texas all have areas where cubies can "overwinter" (survive the cold months). No such luck in New England!

Yeah I wasn't intending to go very far beyond the standard PF tek the first time. But if it works out this time I hope to try again and do a g2g ending with a lot of jars to try different things with. And I am from New England, too, so
Another question: Has anybody tried invitro with pint jars? I feel like the ratio of surface area to volume might make it yield less then 2 half pints. I'm considering it due to the sheer ease.

Nevermind I answered my own question. And if anybody is still reading this, I've got one last one and it is more of an opinion. What is the best method of cloning for a newb without a glovebox? Best meaning least likeley to fail or contam.
