Hundreds to you all ...

( That's South African slang - short for One Hundred Percent, Full Marks, 10 out of 10 )

As a 'shroom grower noobie virgin, I joined 2 sites a few weeks ago. I won't name t'other-one to avoid rubbing any potential flamers up the wrong way - but in this short time, I've already come to a solid conclusion:

Myctopia is my 'shroom home.

Sure the other site has tons of activity and documentation - you could even be tempted to say a flood of information - but Myctopia has a heart and a soul.

The responses & answers to questions here are generally detailed and personal.
The encouragement, support & cameraderie is genuine and gratefully received.

And the generosity warms the cockles of my heart.

( Everyone take a pause & go Awwwwwwwwwww ... )

I've been posting about my 1st attempted grow - with full-on typical noob impatience and Jewish-Mother over-smothering concern - about how bummed I was at a lack of vital signs almost 10 days post-innoculation ...

[ My general suspicion may be that I might have been personally responsible for cooking my spore-sample through lax (read: downright crappy) storage conditions, and/or waiting too long and crossing the outer expiry date line. ]

Along with the encouragement to "relax & chill ... there could still be life as we know it lurkin' in them there jars ..."

... I also received a kind and generous offer of a no-strings attached B+ spore-print free post delivery from a member I'll refer to as my "Danish Saviour".

So if I dome out, I can not lose the faith & try try again.

#2 Is anyone out there inspired to pay-it-forward and help me reward my donor ?

If someone has a funky exotic print that needs a good home - please PM me so I can pass on my donor's member ID so that you can PM him direct to hook him up.

This particular grow for me serves as a natural nurturing exercise in hand-rearing my first shroom trip in over 10 years - with the intention of a mystic spiritual re-awakening following the narrow escape from a bad relationship with the evil white nose powder, an ugly ugly divorce, and a year of living hell ... all in that order.

So as you can well imagine, I greatly appreciate and need the brotherly & sisterly love.

Welcome!! I too did my first grow back in 2006 with a print from a shop in Amsterdam (one of my home away from homes). Check my profile for the thread...I know what your going through from that aspect, as does everyone else here that remembers their first attempt. I say give your present grow a lil longer and get started on your second. Lack of patience is my downfall...but once you see your first pins, it will all be worth it!!!

Glad to have you around bud. And believe me there is no greater collection of teks and ideas than this place. Take a stroll through the archives and vaults and you will see what I mean.

For my first six months or so on this site, all I did was read read read. And I know I didn't come close to reading everything, no where near.

A flood of information isn't always the best, if the information isn't accurate or leaves room for fault. The teks here are here because extensive testing, and basically because they work- for the growers themselves and those who have used them since.

honestly i think topia is the best darned place on the internet. i don't even read any other boards cause i get everything i need here. i'm glad you've stumbled upon it and decided to make it your shroomy home. this place isn't just excellent for growing mushrooms, though... the caliber of people here is so amazing!!! everyone is friendly, encouraging, and full of great info on every topic under the sun (not just growing/extracting drugs). so WELCOME and enjoy your stay and we're glad to have you here.

I know exactly what you mean Rich.
There are plenty of other sites out there and I have looked at many and even registered at a few, but no other site has felt as much like home as this one.
This is truly now my home site as my very first site for anything was Planet Ganja, where I learned to grow MJ and which ultimately led me here ( long story ). They are gone now, went away a couple months ago and hasn't come back. And with that site gone and the grassroots forum here, there's not much need to go anywhere else.
I think all the cool people from other sites all end up here when they get tired of all the B.S. at other sites

Yeah, I have been just immersed in reading here from the first time I came in. Now I am sittin here waiting for my first two cakes to start pinning in the fc. They are nice and bumpy and smell great, so I got high hopes

Got a couple more finishing nicely in the dark at room temp now as the temps are up over 70+.

Gonna do 16 jars of 4 different varieties this weekend so here soon I will have some variety and hopefully a nice pile of shrooms to play with. I think it's gonna be a nice summer
