SWIM has a few plants going. They have been vegging for three weeks now and SWIM wants to cut a few clones before tripping these plants over to bud. Does anyone have any useful links or advice on how/where to cut clones? It's so inconvienient since OG went down. |

OG FAQ zipped for download at the Nook. http://www.thenook.org/archives/ogfaq/ogrowfaq.zip There is a number of ways to do this. Here are the fundamentals of propagating clones... Clones will have a higher probability of rooting if the clone has a high(er) amount of Phosphorous. How do you get the clones to have a high amount of Phosphorous? Feed the parent plant a fertilizer that is high in Phosphorous. Clones will have a higher probability of rooting if the clone was taken from the higher part of the parent plant (newest growth). Light is very important when trying to root clones. When in doubt, use less light. In any situation growing Cannabis the more light the better... Unless you are rooting clones. You see, fresh-cut clones don't have roots yet. There is only so much they can do with light until they grow roots. This means that they do not like light. In fact, if your clone has a lot of foliage, you may want to cut some of the leaf-fingers in half so it can't take a lot of light. This will be explained in detail later in the chapter... It won't know what to do with too much light, and it will burn your clones. Although, this is also determined by your light source. You may have a huge bushy clone, and it would still be alright if your light source is real shitty. You do not want to plant the rooted clone unless it has grown a healthy root system. Some say a clone is ready to be planted as soon as you see any root formation. In my opinion (you've trusted it so far), you shouldn't plant until the length of the root is about half the length of the clone itself (assuming you are not rooting the clone in propagation medium like soil or rockwool. I advise not using propagation medium. Just keep on reading). Those are the basic need-to-knows of cloning. Now, let's get into it a little more detailed... Now really, HOW do I take clones? How you take a clone is determined by the parent plant itself, and what you plan on doing with the clone. The parent plant should be healthy enough to withstand some stress (cutting off a branch or two). The parent plant should be a hardy, vigourously growing plant. A 'you couldn't kill this bitch if you tried' kind of plant is what you should look for when choosing a parent plant. You can take clones from any mj plant... It is just 'advised' that you take clones from the hardiest plant. Anyway, I would not advise cutting more than 3 branches at a time, and leave enough time for the parent plant to recover before you take clones again. Depending on your plant and growing conditions, this should take about a week. At the most you shouldn't cut more than 1/3 of the parent plant's entire branches and foliage. Again, I advise cutting from the top-growth of the parent plant. http://growfaq.marijuana.com/index.php?sid=1〈=en&action=show&cat=22

making clones is easy and fun, be sure to get a good rooting compound. If you cant get a hold of a good rooting compound ive been told natural asprin works well too. Good luck.
