How to Hide a 5 footer

Well my girlfriend is having a family get together this weekend and I have a 5 foot pot plant in my backyard that is planted in the ground............ my Q is can I dig the plant up for a couple hrs then re-plant once everyone is gone w/o any ill effects on the plant?

the plant will not like this but it should survive.... is it still in veg or flower cycle?
If you dug up the ground around where it was planted and it still is soft you might be able to dig it up with little root loss.
Dig it deep and dig it wide making sure not to harm the roots too bad this will work easiest if the soil is just about to need water so it is lighter.
When you get it mostly dug up (assuming the roots are holding the dirt in a nice clump)
Slip a moist burlap sack or 2 under the root/dirt ball then use the sack to lift the plant out of the hole, and hopefully you did not hurt it.
Keep it under low light levels like in a cool garage or room.
If your plant is in flower mode.... I would just cut it down cause the plant will not like having to concentrate on making a new root system and buds.
If all goes sucesfull when you replant the plant make the hole larger and loosen it up alot so the new roots can get to work.
Also you might wanna add some superthrive/B vitamins and benificial fungi (available @ most "mart" stores) cause that plant is gonna be PISSED!!
You can also go to a "mart" store purchase a shed with no floor place it over the plant while company is there, keep it locked and a good excuse ready then return the shed when you are done.

the root system will b rather large, so ud have to dig a big ass hoel to keep it intact.

man diggin it up will definately throw your harvest wayyyy back. is it showin yet? id get a wheelbarrow or lawn mwer,a ladder a tarp and cover it. or if the folks aint real hip, get some silk flowers and tie em all over that. or bend er down gently and stake er low, and tarp it. if they aint into botanicals tell its hybrid sparkler,spider cleome. same shape leaves ,reaks like skunk, white blooms at tops with a single leafed spike of leaves:,sticky as hell, and has thorns. i gottem by the hundreds literally!. they produce much seeds lol. anyway be careful and good luck. i hate it when the unwanted(at the moment anyway)guests come to town. its not like ya dont want em to come over.... just not now!!! hehe peace pfoster

ak outdoors- Thanks for the info..I might not go as far as digging her out.. but who knows
I might try tying her down then as waylit suggested put a tarp over her and junk around
The plant is still veggin
were not cookin out so the back is basically for the kids and the smokers(cigs) at 2:00pm

Put that chair in front of the plant. Throw a tarp over both and forget about it. No ones gonna go snoopin under an old dirty tarp. Especially if you put a can of gas,the lawn mower and a shovel right next to it.

Waylit has it right on mebe even some nice large potted plants in front of those if you got them but yah a lawn mower and some gas will be good cover.
If there are kids there they might be snoopy like kids are, that is one thing to also consider.

lol benny, man maybe you can dig it up but its going to seriously set ya back but its good its still in veg. make sure you set the root ball with vitamin B..it will help out on the shock. the main root is going to be very deep...

other options are cancle out, or pull the plant down with weights and stringsset a table on top, set a bunch of things on top and along the bottom, tarp it and have garden tools and machine lean around it with some smelly gas can and paint..

one last option is build a small 4x4 wood/galvanized shed over the whole thing, spike it down so no drunks tip it over tho..lol, and before the family get there paint it and put the wet paint sign out, no one will go near it and the smell will blend in,

That's a nice looking plant I wouldn't dig it up. I like the tarp idea much better with maybe a lawnmower in close proximity. Good luck.
