    first time hydro questions????

well i messuerd my space it is 2feet in deepth about 5 feet tall and about 3 feet wide(half a closet). I pretty much got every thing, but i'm have a little trouble with the lights. i live in a small studio and i just want to grow my own stash. But i also want to make it count.

right now i have 2 fixtures that have 3 spaces and i have 26w=100w flro's in it right now, will that give me the reults i'm looking for?

    1. what is the BEST and SAFEST light for my space which will give me good results?
    2. Can u find the nutrients at another store besides a hydro store?
    3. what is the best strain to start with?
    4. were is the best place to buy seeds?
    5. with my place being so small should i try to make a grow chamber with 2 rubber maid tubes to try and trap light and smell?

i'm attempting to use a white 4gallon square bucket, i have four airstones in the bottom, AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK?

Im just looking not to burn my place down lol..

    thanks for any help.

Oh ya and i can take pics for more info...

That lighting may be sufficient in the beginning, but not in the end.

I would recommend having four of those as side lights, and then getting an HPS system later. You won't need the HPS immediately, but I would advise getting it as soon as you can.

If you can't afford a brand new one, there are a few sites out there that offer refurbished systems w/ new bulbs for about half the price of a new setup.

I don't think you can get hydro nutrients at anything other than a gardening store, unless you've got some sort of a super walmart nearby, but even then I doubt it. Do a google search for "General Hydroponics", they're a good brand which is also very affordable - get a container of GH FloraGrow, GH FloraMicro, and GH FloraBloom. The total cost for those three should be about 30$+ shipping USD if you get the 32 oz size.

Hey. U will need about a 250 watt HPS to get maximum bud production. U will want to grow many small plants in smaller containers also to max out ur yield. If ur trying to build a lil hydro system, ur off to a good start. wont tneed all those airstones though. u Might wanna use a small rubbermaid bin for a grow container instead. Line the walls of ur room with visqueen plastic or just paint it flat white. COVER YOUR FLOOR WITH A TARP! otherwise u will have a new colored carpet.
A good strain to start with, assuming u dont have high humidty where u live would be afghani #1 or sumthin similar. goto sensi seeds and look at their indoor strain list, get an indica that is reccomended for beginners.
u will not find the proper nutrients outside of a hydro store. invest in a digital PH tester (30$) or so, it will save u alot of headaches caused by the damned lil drop testers. good luck. put pics for more help.

the 250watt HPS light is small and will happily satisfy the needs of that little space........ I'd go hortilux

and the DWC is a nice tek to use friend.........

Your gonna need to get your nute ratios down and keep them strict so you'll need some ph equipment as well, and some good nutes.....

mylar is fine to use for the walls, but for a closet, IMO a double coat of white paint is cheap, very effective, and safe........

EDIT: ohh wait you actually had a list of questions

    1> 250 hps - hortilux, coupled with a GFCI
2> Use the net. its quite safe, just use a safe addy eh...
3> No one best...... might go w/ cheaper genetics to start Nirvana has some good ones for cheap.........But almost any strain is good
4> Seed boutique or dr chronic amongst others....
5> you'll want to take stealth measures obviously and keep smells at bay...perhaps w/ a scrubber......trapping light is essential, especially for preventing light coming in during flowering stage...

what's the diff between hortilux and normal hps bulbs? Is it really worth replacing a current HPS bulb?

i wouldnt replace per se', but bulbs will die eh...and then id buy one

but for illusions situation, he will have the choice to add the bulb cheaply to his set up, just like he'll have the choice of adding air vents to his light hood....before he checks out if he buys online

The additional spectrum is nice for flowering IMO....some believe it helps with potency, stretch etc....

All I know is i like em better....

OH ya, thats EYE- hortilux too

hortilux is the shit. all that i use. they recently put out a metal halide bulb too. hortilux EYE bulbs put out the most lumens per watt (145,000 on a 1k hps) abd the most PAR watts as well. they also have an enhaced blue spectrum which helps with vegging.
Myalr is absolutely the best choice, but it is very expensive. a 1000 square foot roll of visqueen is 80 bucks, mylar is much more.

You don't need a thousand square feet for a closet :P
I've seen 30 sq. feet of mylar for 30 bucks, which would be enough for him.
