| WHAT DO U THINK? Well i re sized my room and came out with this: 4 1/2ft wide x 7ft tall x 2ft deep i will have 400w 2-way and under that i plan on having 6 babies. mh-for veg? right? hps- for flowering? right? i really want to do DRO becuase it seems easier, less space and cheaper than mixing all the nutes and ferts for soil. i have everything for a rumber maid bubbler i just have a few questions with it. mirco- FLO,GROW, BLOOM for the nutes right? what is the best way to germ for DRO? With the system i made i don't have a direct water supply to the plants??? Will the bubbles be enought to hydrate the plant of do i need a trickle system?? any other little tips on a first time DRO??? thanks all iLL |

| Right right Dro=easier ????? whatever floats your boat man Not cheaper by any means, go clean out all the old produce from your fridge, let it decompose, and you got free fertilizer. I may have scared you previously with reccomending all the best organic soil amendments. But if you go buy a bag of compost $2-$3, top soil $2, perlite $3-$5, everything else is either optional, or on a as needed basis. But dro will grow your plants faster, if you have everything already, go for it. Nutes sound good Start your seedling in a rockwool cube, or really in any other medium (except expanded clay). Your last 2 question confuse me, please explain in more detail how you have a hydro set up with no direst water supply to the plants.

| Oh sorry, well i don't have a trickle system feeding water/nutes directly to the roots. All i have is a few airstones will the bubbles be enough to get the hydroton wet enought to feed the roots? when i germ in rockwool do i put the cube in a small sized cup with soil under a plastic dome? If so how far does the rockwool need to be submerged in the soil? Then once i sex it!! i pull it out of the rockwool FLUSH it/Wash it then i put it in the hydroton? How far do the roots go down in the hydroton/net pot. SORRY for asking so many question!! iLL |

| No appology necessary, I answer questions on these here stoner forums to do my part to "Overgrow the government" What your explaining is called a deep water culture (DWC for short) my personal favorite type of hydroponic system. Your going to want the roots mostly submerged. The bubbles kill off the organisms that are gonna decompose your roots, as well as supply oxygen to the roots, all while allowing the plant to drink all the water it wants, it's a beautiful thing really. I've always used these strange starter plugs I bought for a song at a hydroshop when I played with DWC, so I've never actually used rockwool. I would imagine you would poke a hole in the cube (unless it already has one), put in your seed (pregermed of course), and place it in the cup on top of some soil (I dont know if the soil is neccesary, but I would use it in case the roots want to grow down past the bottom of the cube), make sure the rockwool stays moist (not wet), and you should be good with or without the humidity dome. Sexing a seedling is not the best idea unless your going to SOG from seed. You leave it in the rockwool cube and plant the cube in the hydroton. No need to flush unless you have a nutrient overload, or are approaching harvest. And the roots are eventually going to extend through the net pots and are going to be in the water.

| And the roots are eventually going to extend through the net pots and are going to be in the water.[/quote] with high quality seeds is paper towel germination ok? if not what is? So after the seedling sprouts from the rockwool how big does it need to get before planting it in the hydroton? once placed in the hydroton how does it get water to keep growing? Bubbles? with a 400w 2-way is it best to do a rubber maid (18gal) with 6 babies? or 5gal buckets? thanks again iLL if i did the 18gal what is the nute ratio of flo, grow, and bloom? if i did the 5 gal bucket what is the nute ratio of flow, grow, and bloom? |

| Paper towels are good for germination, I use cloth myself, others soak it in a little water in a jar, there all good methods. Wait until it gets it's third set of leaves before transplanting, they are well established by then. Water and bubbles are a constant, except when you change out your nutrient solution. The 2 foot dimesnion is leaving you kinda fucked for the 5 gallon buckets, unless you get a light mover$$$ And for any nutrient solution you should start off with 1/4 of the reccomended dose, then if your plant needs this or that you can up different nutrients to it's needs. But you don't want to go above 1/2 the reccomended strength, as marijuana does not need or even like much fertilizer. You really need to devolop a feel for what your plants need, just by looking at them, knowing them, knowing thier genetic history, after enough practice you get good at keeping them healthy. No replacment for experience. And remember spend countless hours reading the og grow faqs, you'll get some good ideas, and learn alot. It's free gold.
