![]() ![]() | The BEST ganja butter
This is founded on Gottlieb's process with a couple adaptations: Swim uses trim, feel free to use bud. Ingredients: *1 stick of butter for every ounce of dry trim (a few tablespoons less to make stronger, up to another half of a stick to dilute). *large pot *water (*) optional: a handful of fresh leaves for flavor and/or garnish. First off grind up the trim nice and fine. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil (medium heat), with a few inches of space left from the boiling water to the top of the pot to avoid waste spillage. Add butter and let melt. Return to a rolling boil. Add your ground trim. If partial to the flavor of herb in ganja butter add a handful of fresh leaves to the pot. EDIT:: If ground in a blender/food processor add leaves to pot then add a cup or so of water to the blender/food processor and turn on for 30 seconds. Add this liquid to the boiling pot. If using mortar and pestle mix some water around with both and add. Let boil gently, just enough to allow the butter and water to mix constantly, for 20 min, stirring ever few minutes. Turn off heat and let cool to room temp, or at least until lukewarm. Put the pot (WITHOUT STRAINING) into a fridge for 2-4 hours. Return the pot to stove over mild heat until butter has thoroughly melted once again. Once melted raise heat to medium and return to a rolling boil. Continue boiling and stirring for 30 min. Cool to room temp. If desired cooling for another couple hours and an additional boiling may be used. when at room temp(from the stove, not the fridge) filter into a baking dish(or anything appropriate to the amount of butter one has created. fishing paper-thin pieces of ganja butter off of a large baking dish is no fun.) through cheese cloth or anything that allows you to squeeze as much liquid out as possible. Fill the pot with a little warm water and wet the leaves in the cheese cloth down a couple of times and squeeze some more. If desired one may add fresh leaves to the butter as a garnish. Just float on top of the cooling dishes liquid. Return to fridge for a few hours or until the butter is nice and firm at the top of the butter. Scoop it out and make some toast ![]() This will hypothetically keep for several weeks in the fridge and a couple months in the freezer, but honestly it’s never around long enough for swim to find out. Yum yum! Be advised that this process makes VERY strong butter. Enough to cover a piece of toast will keep you feeling superb well into the next day. It may take up to 3-4 hours to reach full effects. ENJOY! ~DL |

the water does remove most of the plant starches, sugars, chlorophyll and leaves the THC on the leaf intact- this is not theoretical, it's a fact. just use warm water, instead of ice water like in bubble bags. leave the trim intact until after the wash. just soak overnight drain off and discard brown water and your leaf can then be dried and powdered.

No, I know. The very first post said grind the leaves. I was commenting on two comments. I agree that a wash will make it taste better by removing that chlorophyll and starches. You don't think that a wash will degrade potency at all though? I guess it doesn't really matter because it will still get you ripped. I think that if you're going to grind it up, you should make some kief first, that will grind it up nicely for you and give you some good smoke to boot. |

i've done it several times, as have others. no significant loss. all one 'loses' is the water-soluble crap, THC is not dissolved by water. this works well, it's worth the extra time if you want a high quality butter.
