    my first grow (outdoor)

first of all, hey to all... I haven't posted in a while, because I became a new father and my time was devoted to that part of my life. But I have more free time now and I wanted to inform on what I was up to... and get some needed help from the pool of expertise on the forums.

Now to get down to business

A friend and I started our first outdoor grow yesterday. We had picked out a prefect spot, secluded and it has great sun. While the seeds were germinating we got to work in preparing the grow area (we were not sure how safe it was to order seeds off line, so we used the best we had) . We dug in a circle about 3 1/2 to 4 feet deep and about a 4 foot diameter, we lined the hole with a tarp material and then filled it back in with spoil bought at a nursery (ph is about 6.4). We planted the germinated seeds yesterday, and hopefully things will go smoothly, although we are expecting the worst so we don't get our hopes too high.

here's a list of the products we have to maintain our hopefully healthy plants

    - nitro fertilizer and a plant extract
    -
    Earthworm humus
    -
organic pesticides, and human hair from a hair salon ( to keep away deer and other animals, i heard it works well)
    - iron, calcium, and potassium deficiency corrector
    - soil ph tester

thats it so far, I'll hopefully have some pictures of nice plants soon.
I wanted to make this thread since it is honestly my first grow and I wanted some good feedback on what we are doing wrong and what we are forgetting to do in the first place. So please feel free to correct me in any mistakes that I might have made in setting up the grow, or give me some advice to make it go smoother.

    thanks all!!!

my first advice, grow about 3 times as many seedlings as you need.
outdoors is a bitch and loses will be often to what ever reason.
its best to have too many than not enough....

next advice, dont grow one patch of 20 plants... grow in about 5 different places with 4 plants in each one..

i try to keep my outdoor spots looking untouched... as in no big spots of black dirt with grass surrounding it.

i dug my holes about 2 foot in diameter and about 2 foot deep. filled with rich black soil, then threw what ever nearby debri i could find on the black dirt leave's, sticks, what ever.

do some serious topping, stem pinching, bending...
    to make them bushy.

    good luck.

here are a few pictures of the area, I will update them weekly for you all to see how everything is progressing. It's pretty boring without any visible greenery, so sorry about that. Hopefully we'll see some action soon

Looks like that would stick out like a sore thumb from the air..Get some leaves, sticks an shit around that Fast as possible. You want a clandestine outdoor grow to blend in with nature as much as possible.Take into consideration that some will be males an some might not make it so plant your healthy sprouts accordingly.

The area will be covered up as soon as possible, but because of the location I think it's relatively safe.

haha... to get to the spot a river has to be crossed... and some shoes were lost in the process.

The weather is beautiful and growing conditions are prime.

I'll have more pictures up soon. Thanks all for the advice

Yeah dude might be far off in the woods but anything flying overhead will notice a plot freshly dug up like that in the middle of the woods. It will stick out like a sore thumb from the air is what I'm saying to ya.

Get some sticks an some green vegetation around the dirt area an you should be cool

Go to an Army Surplus store. I dunno what they are really for. I guess building your own bunker or something crazy like that. Anyways. I know hunters use it. A quick google search shows a range of different kinds of camo netting.

    heres one place I found.

theres an army surplus store near my house so I'll probably go check that out. Don't think I really need it but it sounds cool

and I see exactly what you meant skunk, there was a 40% chance of afternoon showers and it turned out being several huge storm cells, tornado warnings, torrential downpours, and 2 inch hail. hopefully everything is ok though.

Here's an update.. so far so good. The little guys are starting to show some green. We got very lucky that nothing got ruined by the storm, there are 4 that look promising. By the way those are tooth picks used for marking.

sorry for the bad resolution, my buddy has a really old camera.

Here is this weeks update, everything looks really nice so far. We added some dried blood nitrogen in to hopefully get things moving a little faster, and also a bit of phosphorus and calcium.

    hope these pics are enjoyed

the nitrogen is really doing its job! These guys are moving right along. Can anyone help in identifying the plants, since they were mystery seeds, that is if it's not too early to tell? thanks

Question they grow up so fast

I am pleased with my first attempt at growing and I think they look rather nice. My only complaints are that they lean a little bit in order to get more sun, but I guess thats my bad for not picking a spot where they got sun from all directions. I have been going at this with all organic plant food, nitrogen, and pesticide, but I know there is more I can do. I have been using LST but What other products and methods should i try??? I posted this grow log, as it is my first grow and I wanted to get some feedback... I haven't gotten as much as I had hoped so please help me out.

    Thanks all!!!!
and here are some updated pictures, a lot has changed

From what I can tell they are all female, and thank you very much for the comments. I am happy we did this well on our first run, despite the difficulties of growing outdoor I think it is really rewarding, and the plants seem to be thriving.

It wont be too long before we get some bud pics!!! and I just hit em with some superbloom so hopefully that will help the ladies out.
